I just want to say I am SO PROUD and HONORED to be a part of this team! I love being their foster and I love being able to foster many dogs, especially the pitties and the big dogs! I met Cynthia Sweet a few years ago through Everett Animal Control Officer Stacia Gorgone. Sweet Paws Rescue and their team have been sooooo amazing and helpful to us by taking in the city dogs I help and helping them find their furever homes. What an amazing group of devoted people. I have met so many wonderful volunteers and I can't say enough about how every single person matters in this little village we are all a part of. With out these volunteers and this very special and incredible rescue, so many animals would still be homeless. Thank you to everyone that is involved and cares as much as we do. I love being a Sweet Paws team member and volunteer.

Well, I canโt believe we all survived another year in rescue.
Dogs saved in 2024 = 1123.
416 of those were strays from right here in Massachusetts. We have successful partnerships with Animal Control Officers in Boston, Chelsea, Everett, Fitchburg, Gloucester, Haverhill, Lawrence, Leominster, Lowell, Norwood Salem, Salisbury, Saugus, Somerville, Stoneham, and Wrentham. Just to name a few.
Cats Saved: 783 from south & north.
Given those numbers, I think it is safe to say that we are all exhausted, but considering the mountains we moved, it was all well worth it. We worked 24/7 to save as many as we could. The SPR rescue team sacrifices endless amounts of time away from their families, spouses, and friends in order to save more animals and work to get them into fantastic homes. If you know our rescue team, you know how unbelievably dedicated and determined they are to save, love, and secure just one more animal into a loving foster and adoptive home.
The Sweet Paws Army has grown to over 350 volunteers and without each and every part of it, we could not do what we do literally every single day.
๐Our Southern Team are the ones answering phone calls and texts no matter the day or time. You drop everything, jump in your car, and head out to find and save a dog or cat in desperate need. Your unwavering compassion, relentless determination, and boundless energy are nothing short of extraordinary. You are the first glimmer of hope for countless animals who otherwise would have no chance.
๐พ Our Adoption Coordinators โ Youโre the matchmakers behind so many happy tails and purrs. Your dedication to finding loving forever homes is truly inspiring. The job of an adoption coordinator is always grueling and sometimes thankless; it involves endless phone calls between fosters, veterinarian offices, and potential adopters, and because of them, our animals find loving homes that are carefully vetted and chosen for them.
๐ Our Foster Families โ You are the heart and soul of our rescue efforts. By opening your homes to animals in need, you give them a chance to heal, flourish and become adoptable pets that people fall in love with. As a foster-based rescue, without their generosity of spirit and selflessness, our animals would remain in dire circumstances.
๐ Our ISO Volunteers โ Mopping floors, scrubbing dirty crates, scooping endless cat litter, and getting mauled by biting puppies, your work is so crucial. Your compassion a d care for our most vulnerable animals allows them the time to heal and go on and thrive.
๐พ Our Veterinary Team - You are the guardians of second chances, the healers who transform rescue into recovery. Your expertise and compassion save lives every single day. Thank you for your tireless commitment, your kindness, and your belief that every life is worth saving.
๐Our Events Team had a gazillion super successful events! Spreading the word of our life-saving work, welcoming more people into the SPR community. Raising lots of money and most importantly adopting our animals to amazing families.
๐ถโโ๏ธ Our Walkers Team makes it possible for this organization to rescue local dogs and give them the life they deserve; one of love, care, and comfort in addition to the exercise and socialization they so badly crave. Each of these dogs has come to us from local Animal Control Offices across Massachusetts; while their lives have been wrought with sadness and difficulty, this team is truly their second chance.
๐ ๏ธ Our Facilities Team โ Our quiet, small but mighty force! You keep everything in iso running smoothly after our animals use and abuse the place! After they eat doors, rip up floors, and pull apart radiators, youโre always there in a heartbeat. You are the reason that our animals and iso volunteers are safe. You make sure the lights and water stay on and that we have eyes all around the building. We canโt do it without you!
๐ Our Accounting Team โ We all know, I am NOT good with anything that has to do with numbers and money. The talent we have behind the scenes to make sure we stay on track and continue making an impact is unmatched.
๐ง Our Junior Rescuers โ You are the future of animal advocacy, since some of us are getting old, crusty and crabby! I am gonna need to pass the baton at some point and youโre our future. Your spirit, enthusiasm and creativity remind us why we do what we do. Thank you for bringing your energy and ideas to the table, hereโs to carrying on the SPR legacy.
๐ Our "Uber" Drivers โ From emergency pickups to transport for vet visits or new beginnings, youโre always there. Your dedication on the road ensures no animal is left behind.
