Our Family Veterinary Services

Our Family Veterinary Services Dr. Leslie Siewko is a graduate of Tufts University. She has been practicing small animal medicine Have you ever felt like just another client, just a number?
(87)

Have you ever gone to your local veterinarian and waited for an hour to be seen? Have you left the office without a thorough understanding of your pet’s disease or treatment? What makes our service different from any other local veterinary hospital or clinic? We do things our way, and aim to treat you and your pet as we would our own family. We keep it small. We keep it simple. Instead of 15 or 20

minutes allocated per appointment (which is customary in most clinics), we provide 30-45 minutes per patient, even for healthy visits. We feel that each and every visit should have ample time to discuss any and all issues that an owner and their pet may be having. We find that counseling owners about health choices like diet, exercise, dental care, laboratory screening, etc. is crucial to maintaining good health throughout a pet’s life. Certainly, if a pet is ill, there is more to discuss, and almost certainly will take longer. We feel that communication and education take time, and cannot be rushed. Because we strive to treat each client and pet as a family member, we feel it is prudent to limit the number of families that we service, so that each can get the individualized attention they deserve. Veterinary clinics are located everywhere, just like banks and hair salons. Finding and choosing the right veterinary clinic for your pet can seem difficult. Most people stay at a practice where they feel valued, cared for and have their pet’s needs met. Our mission is to provide a true “family” experience, where our clients are not just clients and our patients are not just patients. Our Family Veterinary Services will include:

* routine physicals
* same day sick visits
* general surgery
* in house and reference laboratory services
* dental care
* cardiac and abdominal ultrasound
* radiology
* hospitalization services for cases (unless they require 24 hour supervision)
* medical grooming services

We focus our energy on providing supreme individualized and personalized care to the elite families that we serve. This will ultimately work in favor for the doctor and staff of the clinic, as this approach to medicine will allow for a more relaxed pace and will allow for a much more thorough medical work up. In having a family practice, one major focus of our clinic is to create a comfortable space for both humans and their pets. We believe that the decor of the physical space we work in should not feel “clinical” or “cold.” Couches and rugs will replace hard plastic chairs, and we will not use blanketed kennels to house our patients. The exam rooms will be laid out more like living rooms, which will reduce the stress involved with going to the doctor. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION:

It is important to us to be able to continue to serve the clients that we already call family. Most of them live on the north shore, but some travel from as far as Winthrop. We chose the town of Peabody to call home, so that we can be easily accessible from many communities. Both route 1 and interstate 95 run directly through Peabody. This makes travel to our space convenient from the north and the south.

This has never happened in the history of SPR, but given the fact we have so few people stepping up, and more dogs and cats than ever, we are being forced to shut down intake, both in the South & North.

Pre-COVID about 3% of our intakes were from Massachusetts, or what we call our own backyard. Our projections for 2023 are that 30-35% of our intakes will come from our backyard. Dumped, abandoned, and neglected animals right here in the Commonwealth. 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞.

We have 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟕𝟎 𝐝𝐨𝐠𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟎𝟎 𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐬 in our care, and nowhere to place them without fosters and adopters.

Once we’ve recruited some new fosters, we will be back up and running.

Now that your bellies are full from Thanksgiving, let’s think of the less fortunate. Every year we collect cat food of all kinds for Carol from now until Christmas.
Carol, all by herself, feeds and maintains hundreds of cats in feral colonies on the North Shore. Most of our house cats are ones she has saved from the perils of living outdoors without anyone except her to help them.
SHE FEEDS THEM ALL…EVERY DAY.
This food we collect will help their bellies stay full for a few months.
Please help us to help her to help them.
Bring something to put under our tree, because there are cats out there that Santa surely is not visiting. Carol is their Santa, every single day. Thank you so much!!!

UPDATE 12/7: much has arrived and people have been beyond generous (thank you!). We will be collecting until 12/30 and hope to get as much food to her as possible. Please spread the word! Thank you to all who have donated or shared the post. It truly takes a village. ❤️🐾❤️

11/23/2022

Wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!
We will be closed the Friday after the holiday and will reopen on Monday at 9. Enjoy time with your loved ones! Every day is a gift!!!

Have a smooth and safe 4th weekend!

As you prepare to celebrate July 4th and a weekend of fun festivities, be sure you take precautions to keep your pets safe!

Gonna be HOT this weekend! Please keep your guys out of the sun, out of the car, and cool.

Gonna be HOT this weekend! Please keep your guys out of the sun, out of the car, and cool.

Tomorrow is going to be HOT. Please remember that the inside of a car can heat up to 100° F in 10 minutes on an 80° F day – even with the windows slightly open. Animals may suffer and can die quickly when left in a hot car. A car will heat up rapidly and an animal is unable to cool himself or herself down. Pets can suffer needlessly and could die when left in a car even on a moderately hot day. Luckily, Massachusetts has a law to help prevent pets from dying in hot cars. The law is very specific on what the risk needs to be to the dog and what you need to do before you remove a dog, which should only be as a last resort.

Our tree is up!!! We have 22 days to gather as much as we can for the local cat charities we support!
Please think about the less fortunate kitties this season and consider bringing by any wet or dry food you may have to donate. These cats are not picky. Any flavor, wet or dry, any size bag or can…
Donations go to the local TNR colonies for the cats who have no choice but to brave it outside. All that can be rehabbed and rehomed are, and the feral cats that have no one to care for them are hungry. Over 400 cats are fed DAILY, rain shine or snow, by a local organization that helps to keep them from starving.
