Lucky from Athol missing since 11/17 was trapped 12/15/24! A neighbor had called in a sighting in real time and and MDM Keri B was able to go to an abandoned barn she assumed he was in. Keri was able to get w video of him just sleeping curled up. Animal control came right away and he was in the trap 15 minutes later!
Here is a great video of the moment Cleo missing in Stow had that "aha moment". After missing for 2 days, her owners did it all right, low to the ground, giving her a chance to figure it all out. Great coaching again by MDM Volunteer Stephanie G and MDM Volunteer/ACO Kiersten H!

Rose, missing for a week from North Attleboro was safely trapped by MDM today in Woonsocket. She has traveled over 50 miles and on very busy highways. Thank you so much to the community for calling in sightings and especially to Len and his wife for allowing a trap and Jackie who was hand feeding her today. Welcome home, sweet girl!
10/14/24 Great news today out of Wilmington! Little Mollie has been safely found after being stuck in the marsh for two nights. Everett Police Dispatcher Tim, who lives in the area and owns an infrared drone offered to volunteer to come to the area and fly the drone. There was little Mollie stuck in the marsh. Many thanks to Wilmington Fire Dept, Wilmington Police and Wilmington ACO Chris who went to the area and were able to safely retrieve her! Many thanks to MDM Volunteer Melissa D, her foster Lindsay who did everything right, Barb E, Everett ACO Stacia who volunteered her time and coordinated the drone. Welcome home Mollie!
9/28/24 Sometimes Missing Dogs Mass gets called to assist with other lost animals, ones that don't have organizations dedicated to bringing them to safety. Jerry the pig went missing 12 days ago in Taunton. Jerry is super smart but as lots of pigs are, very food motivated! MDM Director Deb N worked with Jerry's family and with the help of Chris & Family who kept him in their area so he could be trapped, Jerry is now safe and back with his brother Hammy! Thank you the community for rooting for Jerry and reporting where he was! Welcome home Jerry!

Kirby missing from Haverhill, safely trapped 9/1/24
Great news out of Haverhill early this morning! Kirby, missing for 11 days has been safely trapped by Missing Dogs Mass! Homeowner Katie & family alerted us that Kirby was on their home security camera three days in a row. We set up on their property and early this morning Kirby decided he had enough and went into the trap. Many thanks to Katie for letting us set up so quickly, thanks to the residents of the Riverside area for calling in sightings. Thanks to Barb E, Melanie, Morgan, Jeff and MDM President Kris!

8/14/24 Fantastic news out of Canton: MDM trapped little Bandit after his 23-day adventure traveling through local woods and fields. He was hiding most of the time and rarely seen except on camera feeds. But a sighting today from Michelle was the break we needed to finally capture him. MDM volunteer Cindy K assisted Bandit’s family during the search. Special thanks go to Sharon residents Michelle, Carla & Scott, Pat & Phil, and Charlie, who graciously allowed us to put our equipment on their properties over the last few weeks. Bandit is skinny but otherwise looks fine and is ecstatic to be home again!

8/12/24 Earlier this morning, a trap was set for Chrissy missing in Warren. She approached the trap multiple times, and there was a lot of activity in the area. Once things settled down, her owners were able to bring her to safety. Here she is checking out the trap, you can where see she hears someone.
8/7/24 We posted this back in June but felt it was worth sharing again!
We often get asked about traps and why can't we just “throw up a trap”. Anyone who works with lost dogs knows that you can't just haphazardly set traps when you don't know if a dog is even there.
Trapping is a process and should not be done quickly, as mistakes are made that way. We know owners have many people talking in their ears about "why can’t you just set a trap?". They have many people claiming to know how to trap talking to them as well.
If there are no sightings, then a trap should not be placed. You can’t trap something that is not there.
Just having one sighting often does not mean a trap can be set. There is an entire process that needs to take place. Often a feeding station is set to get a dog on camera, and then if there are confirmed sightings in a certain area at the feeding station, then often next steps of trapping can start. When a dog is sighted, things need to be taken into consideration before setting the trap... Is the dog still hanging around, or did the dog run for miles and is no longer in the area.
Many things come into play during the process.
We utilize cameras that send live images or videos to our phones to let us know that it is in fact the target dog. When we set traps, they are monitored closely and any wildlife(and there is always lots of wildlife) or neighborhood pets who may find the traps are let out quickly.
A trap is never set, nor should be set, without being monitored. Animals can become injured or worse if left without being released.
Our volunteers and many other organizations like ours take getting dogs home very seriously, and sometimes, that may not be in line with what our followers or even owners may think. We do our best to bring every dog home that we can!

Here we have our girl Ginny from Norton who we confirmed with our cameras, and then the trap was set and she is safely back home!
