Wrapping out the year with a special post. Sassy (Sass-A-Frass) is officially retired! She finished her FCat (Fast Cat) title with a total of 1,036 points. She is a PAL dog, but if she’d been running against Yorkies she’d be listed at #6 fastest this year and would’ve spent the previous two years at the #3 spot. Her other accomplishments include
-12 fit dog walks
- 3 pet therapy visits
- 8 new behaviors/tricks learned
- 4 times used for public demonstrations
- 7 times used to teach children how to handle a dog.
- 100 million kisses given
- 15,000 miles traveled
I have to hand it her, when I lost Luna this summer she stepped up to the plate. She never left my side and she has enjoyed getting to compete. However, at almost 10 years old and under vet recommendation she will now be a “couch puppy”. I’ll continue working on the loose leash walking and some other behaviors so she can be a demo dog, but ultimately she’s a happy retired girl.
I’ve gotten the question “what will you do now without any competition dogs” and I have answers for that coming soon. Right now we’re just basking in the glory that yes, you can teach an old dog new tricks because Sassy didn’t start competing until she was 6, almost 7, years old.
