Did you know that a lost pet that is microchipped is much more likely to be reunited with their owners than a pet that is not microchipped? Even the most pampered pets can be at risk to get lost, and it always happens when you least expect it. Service workers leaving doors or gates open or unlocked, disaster evacuations separating family members, and bored pets breaking or chewing their way through fences are some of the most common ways this terrifying scenario can happen. Getting your pet microchipped is the best way to ensure you and your pet will be reunited if they ever stray away from home.
The microchip is a scannable device, about the size of a grain of rice, permanently implanted under your pet's skin, typically between the shoulder blades. Once implanted, the microchip is ready for immediate use.

The microchip has a unique number it produces when scanned, and that number is then linked to your personal contact information through the registration process. Our hospital handles the registration process for you, so all you have to do is fill out the paperwork at the time of implantation and we do the rest!

All vet clinics and shelters scan lost pets for a microchip, before doing anything else.
Use the AAHA microchip database to make sure your pet's microchip information is current, often times pets are microchipped but their information is never registered.
https://www.aaha.org/for-veterinary-professionals/microchip-search/
If you are unsure if your pet is microchipped, contact us so we can check our database, or bring your pet by so we can scan them.

November is National Senior Pet Month!

Here at Pearland Pet Health Center, we love our pets just like we love our family, so let's do our best to keep them healthy. Diseases and chronic conditions continue to increase in our senior pets over the years, but the good news is there are advances being made in healthcare when it comes to early detection and treatment.

As we recognize National Senior Pet Month this November, it's essential to remember that early detection can make a significant difference in your pet’s health. For the month of November, we are offering 10% off any of the following tests* your senior pet (age 7 or older):

Bone health check: X-rays can reveal hidden issues like arthritis, fractures, or joint disease, which are common in pets as they age.
Ultrasound screening: allows for a deeper dive into soft tissues like the liver, kidneys, heart, and spleen, making them a go-to for detecting unwanted conditions
Blood and urine screening for organ disease and organ failure: Often our pets are hiding symptoms that there is something wrong. Testing your senior pet’s blood and urine tells us a lot of information we would not know otherwise, simply because they cannot tell us.

Have questions? Feel free to call or text us at 713.436.2555

Take a few moments to make an appointment to get your senior pet in for a checkup. Together, we can help our pets live longer, healthier lives!

Sincerely,

The Doctors and Staff at PPHC!

*In order to qualify for the discount, these diagnostics must be used as a screening tool for wellness checkups, this offer does not apply to pets that are coming in for sick appointments.

Our Story

Pearland Pet Health Center was opened in 2005 by Dr. Manley May. Working in West University but living in Manvel, it was a life long dream of his to one day own his own clinic that could service his community and its surrounding areas. When he first opened his staff consisted of one person he had worked with, Kit Berry, and his family. About a year after opening he added an associate veterinarian, Dr. Corbett Post. He and Dr. May, many years later, have become partners in the practice, and have built a successful business helping people and their furry family members.

Pearland Pet Health Center is a full service veterinary hospital. Services provided include: -Preventative Health Care

-Avian/Exotic Medicine

-Vaccinations
