Leo is still looking for his forever home.

I just can't believe this boy has not found his forever home.

Leo is such an amazing boy that is looking for his forever family. He needs a family that is going to be patient with him learning but firm on routine and boundaries. If you have had a little ginger before you know they are stubborn and if you give them and inch they are taking 10 miles lol. Leo likes to go out from time to time but seems to be happier hanging at home. He is okay being around other dogs but gets a bit overwhelmed in large groups of dogs, so a large daycare situation probably isn't the best situation to put him in. I think he would enjoy having another dog friend at home or just being an only dog.

His foster dad travels a bit for work and has a trip coming up and Leo is going to have to be boarded. I would love to find him a home soon so he doesn't have to go into boarding.

Leo is up for adoption with the Dogue de Bordeaux Rescue, Inc.. They are a national rescue. Leo is in Peoria, IL but that doesn't mean that if you are not in Illinois that you can't adopt him. We adopted Bear and he was in Indiana and Leo actually came from California. If it is the perfect fit we can work out a transport. Please also remember the DDB rescue does extensive checks such as vet reference, home inspection and reference checks. This is to make sure that the home is a perfect fit for the pup.

Please share Leo so we can find him his perfect forever home. I know it is out there.

We want your used jars!

The Bear's Bites Boutique is going to have a bite refill station. We have wanted to have a bite refill station for a long time and now that we are opening the boutique the way we want it, we are finally going to have it.

You can help us with this. We will have branded jars but we also will have a "forgot your jar" section. These will be clean used jars. We prefer glass jars like pickle jars, jelly jars, canning jars but we will take plastic jars also. We only want jars with lids if you are donating pickle jars or jelly jars or that type of jar. If you are donating canning jars I can buy the rings and lids.

We want to keep these jars out of the landfills and why not reuse them!

If you would like to drop them off starting this week you can! We have a huge side lot and you can bring them right in the fenced lot and leave them behind the fence.

I will post more information about our refill station the closer we get to our grand opening on Oct 12th! You are not going to want to miss it.

Who needs Leo in their life?

This beautiful boy is being fostered by our friend and is looking for his forever family.

Leo was on his way to be euthanized and Jeremy saved him with just minutes to spare.

This boy needs rules and routine! He is a ginger and if you give him an inch he is going to take miles. If you know anything about this breed that is not uncommon. That being said, he is the sweetest boy. He comes to see me at the farmers market and loves to get his pig eat and scratches. I love him so much and would love for him to stay local but if his forever family is not in Peoria that is ok too. 😊

This is the rescue we got Bear from and they do multiple interviews, check references and do a home inspection.

🚨 Sally O’Malley, a recently adopted dog, has escaped her home!!!🚨 Located in East Peoria. She still has her leash on. PLEASE let us know of any sightings. She will be too scared to come to you but will probably come if you have another animal with you, as she feels more comfortable with them than people.

This week started off a little weird, Mr Bear had diarrhea. I get asked a lot what I feed for diarrhea. Many people tell me they are told by their pet professional to give chicken and rice but rice can cause inflammation so the last thing you want to give is rice when your pup already isn’t feeling good. The other option is to rush them to the vet and get metronidazole for fast results. I am not anti medication but more diarrhea doesn’t need 10 days worth of medication. I also am not a fan because that is going to destroy the gut and that isn’t going to help either. Feeding a whole natural diet is a good place to start and if diarrhea hits then go with boiled turkey and pumpkin and either no treats or a whitefish like cod is a good treat. We were out of town so I had to use what I could find at the local small town Walmart.

Look at my perfect boy in his new outfit.

While at Superzoo we got to meet Rebecca at Goldpaw and I could not love these pet outfits enough. I was not sure if Bear would love them as much as I do but HE DOES which confirms I made the right decision when I decided to bring this into Bear’s Bites Boutique!

Talk about another epic SuperZoo trip.

Ya'll I got to meet & . I seriously almost cried.

Then the most amazing party last night and I got to see so many amazing friends new and old. I did not get pictures of all of them.

I can tell you that Vegas is going to be seeing Bear's Bites soon.

I have ordered so many amazing things for Bear's Bites Boutique to help all of you help your pets live an amazing life. I can not wait to share them with you all.

Saturday afternoon you can find us at the 1 year anniversary "Tail" Gate Party at Pine Lake Doggy Daycare & Development Center from 1pm - 3pm

Sunday afternoon we will be at Sunday Funday for Freedom Paws at Junction City Pub helping raise money for Freedom Paws Service Dogs from 2pm - 5pm. 20% of all of our sales at this event will go to Freedom Paws so come out and help us raise money for this amazing organization.

I will not be announcing a list of treats for these events like I do weekly for the farmers market. If you are looking for a certain treat your best bet is to order it online. We are getting caught up on orders from our move and we are very thankful for all of your patience. We do have more equipment coming that will help us get caught up and stay caught up.

What I feed for diarrhea for my Bear as an animal nutritionist.

Production is back up and running. It has been a long 2 weeks without production and I have gotten so behind on orders. Yesterday I got production back up and running. Please be patient with me while I catch up on orders. All the freeze dryers have food in them and all the dehydrators have treats in them. All orders will be filled by the end of the week. If you ordered for pickup our website did not update the location for pickup so I will email you and ask if you would like to pickup in Pekin or if you would like to have your order shipped. I will ship these orders for free since it is my mistake. Thank you so much for your patience this has been a big adventure and things have not gone as planned. I am getting use to that lol. You guys are amazing and we would not be such an amazing business without you..

Why we started

As long as I can remember we have always had dogs. About ten years ago we started noticing our boy Sarge was having bad ear infections and extremely dry skin. Many vet trips later and very expensive tests we realized he was allergic to his food. We put him on special food and it still didn’t work so I spent many hours, weeks and months researching food. I learned many things about food allergies. I switched his food and all things got better. Since Sarge we have had Tank and Bear that both have had major food allergies. I have spent A LOT of money of many different treats that some were okay and others just didn’t work out. Our Tank got sick about a year and a half ago and we thought it was a food problem so I decided to make his treats myself. Tank loved his bananas and sweet potatoes. When we got Bear he decided that he didn’t like fruits and veggies so I was buying dehydrated meat and with the cost of it I decided to make it myself. The reason I started Bear’s Bites is because people need to be able to get good quality treats and not have to spend a fortune on them. My fruit and veggies are organic and our meat is steroid free and hormone free, it comes from Little Blue’s Farm.
