Ever wonder why Veterinarians recommend spaying?
Spaying provides a healthier, longer life for your dog and prevents the stress and expense of emergency treatment for preventable conditions like pyometra.
Pyometra is an infection of the uterus that occurs most commonly in older, unspayed female dogs. It typically develops after a heat cycle when hormonal changes create an environment favorable for bacterial growth. If left untreated, it can cause systemic infection, organ failure, or death. Studies estimate that nearly 25% of unspayed female dogs over 10 years old will develop pyometra. The condition can occur in younger dogs as well, depending on their hormonal cycles. Dr. Scott performed emergency surgery, removing the uterus which weighed 5-pounds the average uterus weight of a medium dog (20-50) pounds is 1.8-3.5 ounces.

Veterinarians' dogs are not exempt from injuries. Gabby recently suffered a knee injury involving a torn cruciate ligament. Our clinic does not perform this surgery, but a colleague in Peoria can provide the required expertise. Once Gabby needs rehabilitation, Dr. Scott will devise a customized care plan. We will chronicle her progress to demonstrate the benefits of expert surgical care and postoperative rehabilitation. Currently, Gabby is recuperating and receiving therapeutic laser therapy at our facility.

Sweet baby Kasper ❤️

Help us with a middle name for Willow!

This adorable little girl is Lilly. Lilly all of a sudden had no use of her rear legs. She had a hemilaminectomy surgery a few weeks ago which is a spinal surgery and came to PVC for physical therapy. Believe it or not this was her first day in physical therapy and she did amazing! Allowing her to float in the water on our water treadmill will start to strengthen her back legs as she uses them to paddle around so we can work on regaining use of her back legs. We are so happy that we can help this sweet girl get better!

Ricky Ray is one of our hydrotherapy patients. We just had to share how adorable he looks in his little life jacket! Such a cute little man!!

Howlin For Attention.

As soon as we heard these howls, we knew we needed video and "lovins", stat!! Such a sweet baby! The whale sounds at the end are to die for. When I spoke to mom, she said she does this when she is at the bottom of the stairs, or when she wants to be picked up. Mom said "she's a hot mess!!" Too much! 😍😍

We promise, this is NOT what we get to do all day. However, it IS a great cure for the COVID blues. 🥰

Vivian just had cruciate surgery with us last week and she is now in the hydrotherapy stage. She has got it made in our warm water, jet style, hydro tub. And she is doing great!
