Daybird Aviaries

Daybird Aviaries Sweet, Handfed Baby Parrots of all types....and so much more. Yes, we are aviculturists. We breed exotic birds of many different types....but we're so much more.

We also propagate heritage breed poultry, farmstead rabbits, and nubian dairy goats. We even have a pet alpaca. We have pigeons and doves, quail and pheasants, ducks and geese, and all types of parrots including Budgies, Cockatiels, Lovebirds, Amazons, Eclectus, Macaws, Cockatoos, Conures, Asian and Australian Parakeets, and a few oddballs. Well, to be fair, if you count the folks running the place, there are more than just a few oddballs. :P

The word “markhor” is believed to come from the Persian words “mar” (snake) and “chore” (eater.) The exact origin of the term is unknown, but there are some theories: Wild male markhors have been observed using their hooves to kill snakes as a means of protection, though they do not eat the snakes. Another possibility is that male markhors’ long, spiraling horns resemble snakes coming out of their heads. A third possibility for this name could come from claims that a markhor’s cud could help treat snake bites.

107 years ago today the last known Carolina Parakeet, America's only parrot died. 100 years ago bird keeping was not really a thing, especially in the United States. If only a forward thinking Aviculturist or two would have trapped and saved a few for breeding.

Has anyone used this? It has excellent ingredients.
