We’ve all heard of the lucky four-leaf clover, but did you know there are several plants that can be classified as shamrocks? The Animal Poison Control Center (APCC) receives calls each year around St. Patrick’s Day, often in response to a pet who has eaten Oxalis acetosella.

A quick study of this plant species will prove it’s not so lucky for canines and felines. Immediate head shaking, upset stomach, drooling, and kidney damage can all result from your pet swallowing this hazard.

Keep all clovers and shamrocks off the floor and away from where your dog or cat would easily come across them".

🌸🤧 It's officially spring allergy season! And guess what? Our pets can be affected too. 🐾 From itchy skin to watery eyes, here are some ways to keep your furry friends comfortable:

🌿 Frequent grooming to remove pollen and irritants.
🚿 Regular baths to soothe itchy skin.
🏡 Keep windows closed on high pollen days.
🥾 Take walks early or late when pollen is low.
🧴 Consult your vet about allergy-friendly treatments.

It’s not something we like to think about, but there are a number of items in and around our homes that are poisonous to pets. With any potential dangers or toxins, it is important to keep them out of paws’ reach. While accidents can happen, the less accessible these items are, the less likely your pet is to get into them!
Common signs of poisoning include:
>Vomiting
>Diarrhea
>Excessive drooling
>Lack of coordination
>Weakness/lethargy
>Collapse
>Excessive thirst/urination
If you think your pet has ingested something toxic:
Call your veterinarian👩🏼‍⚕️👨🏼‍⚕️ , go to your nearest emergency veterinary hospital🩺🆘 , and or Call the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at 1-888-426-4435 (fee applies) or Pet Poison Helpline at 1-800-213-6680 (fee applies). 🐶🐱❤
It’s important to seek out help immediately – poisons can work fast!
Try to determine what your pet has ingested and how much.
Be honest with your veterinarian about what your pet may have consumed.
