📢 Bordetella / Upper Respiratory Infection Alert 📢

To all my clients,
It has come to my attention that a number of bordetella/uri cases are being reported from area daycares and dog parks. Out of an abundance of caution, effective immediately the following policies are temporarily in place:

1. Dogs who currently attend daycare, dog parks, or have boarded recently in a facility, will need to wait two weeks from their last visit before rejoining group hikes or arriving here for boarding stays. If your dog currently attends daycare or dog parks, we will need to pause services for the time being.

2. Additional cleaning and safety measures will be implemented here: boarding dogs will no longer share water bowls or toys, and the pool will be closed to boarders for the time being. Car crates will be disinfected daily for hike clients.

As always, if your dog is feeling under the weather or showing any sign of illness please let us know! Symptomatic dogs will need to pause services until they have fully recovered.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping to mitigate the spread of these illnesses. We have not had any reported sickness amongst client or resident dogs here, and hope to keep everyone happy and healthy!

7/2/24 **Fireworks season is upon us.**
Please, please, please, do not take your dog to any fireworks, parades, or concerts (we are not above begging when it comes to this topic). Trust us, your dog will be happier at home, and you will be happier knowing that your dog is safe.

~Even if your dog has never been frightened by loud noises, there is always a first time, & we would rather not have to create a lost dog flyer with your beloved's photo on it!

Be safe and leave the 4-leggeds at home.~

Foster puppy Zeta is almost ready to start looking for his new home! This kid is super active and will need a family willing and able to provide both mental and physical exercise for him. He's been confident exploring his environments and LOVES the kiddie pools! He can get a little spooky towards novel sounds and when seeing unfamiliar people/dogs in certain contexts, but will continue to make progress with more training and time.

Let's talk about this photo. It's cute, except it's not. I see a dog who cannot get up without telling the child to get off. How do you think a dog is going to do that?

The 7 Golden Toddler Dog Rules:
#1: If a dog walks away from you, you DO NOT FOLLOW.
#2: Always leave room for the dog to walk away from you.
---that right there is 90+% of dog bites eliminated---
#3: We do not climb on the dog.
#4: We do not grab or pull on the dog.
#5: We do not hit or throw anything at the dog.
#6: We do not touch the dog's food.
#7: We do not go into the dog's kennel.

I promise these are not overly difficult concepts for littles, nor will they rob a kid of their bond with the family dog. It will deepen that bond, while keeping everyone safe.

"Oh, it looks like Moose is walking away from you. She is saying she wants a break. Let's play with this instead!"

"It's Moose's dinner time! Let's give her space to enjoy her yummies."

"That is Moose's room(kennel) and only she is allowed to go in there."

"If Moose wanted a break, could she walk away from you right now? No she really couldn't. Let's move away from the play house. You can keep playing but now she can leave when she wants a break."

In conclusion, ***parent your child or your dog will do it for you, and you will not like how they do it.***

Introductions are in order! Kaylee, Jayne, and Wash are planetside for a spell, getting the lay of the land until they're ready to take off on new adventures with their forever families. Born around the end of March, these kids are part of a large litter born to an ACD mom and unknown dad. They will be looking for individual homes where they can continue to learn and grow!

Thank you to all my clients for your support over the past seven years!

It's been a couple of years, but in order to maintain a high quality of care and continue to invest in ways to better serve your pets I have made the decision to adjust rates. New pricing is reflected on my website, and is effective immediately for new clients. For current clients, the changes will take effect beginning 6/16/24. All boarding dates already booked will remain at the old rate (regardless of when your pet's stay is).

As a thank you to my existing clients, all boarding dates booked by 5/22/24 will be locked in at current rates. Get those summer stays or holiday trips booked early 🏖️

Lookin' for a new pal? Well, we got yer friend! Tucker & Dale are settling into their "vacation home" but are gearing up to start fishing for their individual forever families. They've got a lot of learning and growing to do and will need families who can keep up with that ACD intelligence and energy!

Foster kid Ellie found a new playground this weekend when she joined me and my personal dogs on a trip to the White Mountains!

This was Ellie's most challenging hike to date, but seeing her out there you wouldn't know it! She did great during our traverse of two NH48 peaks, Pierce and Eisenhower, managing the terrain and mileage without difficulty. Trail etiquette is a work in progress, but she handled multiple encounters with other passing hikers (and one other dog) extremely well considering her history of reactivity. She made some great choices in several close-proximity moments, and I am continually impressed by how well she does with a little support!

Overall it was an excellent trip for El and I'm super happy with the progress she's made. With the right owner to continue bringing out the best in her, she'll be an amazing adventure pup. This weekend she was truly in her Elliement 😉

Introducing the Fantasia Family! This trio is part of a litter of six, born 12/24/23 to an acd mom and suspected golden/lab dad (pics of parents are available, they stayed with their family and ACDRA is providing spay assistance to prevent future litters). These pups have taken all the changes and instability in their short lives in stride, going with the flow and adapting super easily to all the new! They've been confident and eager to explore, something I plan on continuing to nurture during their time here.

Atreyu - black tri w/ white socks, male
Bastian - black tri, male

I'll be getting to know them over the coming weeks and they will be placed in separate homes best suited to their individual personalities. They should be ready to go home 3/17 🍀 Follow along with their highlight reel on my Instagram!
