I’ve been putting in double duty at the “job-that-pays-our-bills” last week and even more this week… the pain will be over soon and I’ll be kinda back to normal… ‘til then…I enjoy my quail enjoying their fresh sand.

We love our little farming community here in Pendleton and being close to Clemson. The team buses drive past our house on game days!

I know folks who hate morning glories because they can easily spread. But we love ‘em! So far they haven’t spread to areas we don’t want. This beauty popped up near Otto and Archie’s resting places. 💜

Piggy of the day: Sweet Pea!!

Sweet Pea was born a couple months after we acquired her momma, Momma Pig. I named her Sweet Pea because well, she was the sweetest piggy. And she still is. 🐷❤️

Not-so piggy of the day: Bruce….

Bruce, affectionately called, Brucey-woosey. Bruce decided he needed to roll around in the pile of debris I’m getting ready to burn. Thanks, Bruce! 🤦‍♀️

Also, we present to you belly rub Tuesday and teefy Tuesday.

About a month or so ago our quail hens stopped laying for a spell because of a predator threat. And I’m happy to report they’re back in business! I’m so glad because I was sure missing my hard boiled quail eggs! 😋

I’m restocking our herb salt and fig leaf syrup tonight. Gotta stay stocked through winter!

Welcome September! Wait, what?!? Nnooooo, no, no….. I need year-round Summer!!! 🌞🔥 Admittedly, these recent cooler temps have been nice but I really need 100 degree days!!

Anyhoo… the dude has been busy readying the garden beds for fall crops. We’ve got lettuce, carrots, peas, beans, and potatoes started, or getting ready.

Our sweet piggy, Doris (the blond one), will be sent to the butcher next week for a customer. Honestly, we’re ready for her to go we need to reevaluate our pig situation.

We’ve sold the last of our melons, tomatoes, huckleberries, and cucumbers 😔 yet another sign that Summer is over. 😭

I brought home the final round of Cornish Cross chicks for 2025 today. We’re hoping to keep them safe and alive until processing … unfortunately, weve been battling another hawk on the daily. 😡

I enjoy fresh-sand-day maybe as much as the quail 😂…. they love their sand baths!

Back at Spring time we worried we wouldn’t see “our” hummingbirds because we didnt see them for some time. Boy, were we wrong! These guys are abundant and wild all day long.!! And they have no concern for our presence at all. I love ‘em!!

I may have a seed problem. It’s taken me a couple months to organize these seeds! There’s hundreds of varieties … (There’s more in little tubes inside the black container 😉).
