Arohanui LaPerm Cats LaPerm Cats come in shorthaired & longhaired with different types of curls. They are very healthy, require little grooming, and excellent with kids.

LaPerms are a very rare breed of cats that originated in The Dalles, Oregon in 1982. They come in both longhair and shorthair, in all genetically possible colors. Once you have owned a LaPerm you will not want another breed. Very affectionate, people oriented, will follow you around like a dog, extremely smart & clever cats.

In the United States, the Doberman Pinscher is listed as such with the parent club and with the AKC, but around the time the Doberman Club in the United Kingdom was founded (1948), the Germans dropped the word “pinscher” from the breed name because it referred to the German terrier type and wasn’t considered necessary anymore.

Consequently, the name of the breed (and club) in Great Britain is simply “the Doberman” (that’s the club logo seen here, though there is an updated version which isn't terribly different) which is also how the FCI refers to the breed. Both the Kennel Club and the FCI also spell the name with an extra “n” because that is how the creator of the breed, Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann, spelled his name.

Important Notice from the CKC
Dear Members,

The CKC applauds our colleagues at the AKC for taking swift action to address concerns regarding the safety of juniors following the deeply shocking and concerning news coming out of the USA involving figures in the dog show world.

Our first thought was also for the safety and well-being of our own juniors. We believe juniors in the dog show world must be protected, and all of our events should be safe and welcoming. If you witness or suspect wrongful behavior, it should be reported to the police immediately. If you are at a CKC event and you need assistance, contact the Event Secretary.
Juniors are the future of the CKC, and of dog shows and dog sports. As we follow the news from the United States, our leadership team and Board of Directors are reflecting on our junior program to see where we could improve and safeguard children in dog sports.

A short letter from 1968 on the Jack Russell. There are Fox Terriers today which can be traced back to dog the Parson owned, but that's not saying much.

My New Year’s Resolution for EVERYONE! (including myself)

Shared it last year and it deserves being shared every year.

Birds of a feather, flock together. Remember that when you’re sitting around having small talk at the Dog Show. There are those that talk positively in hopes of bringing others around them up to them. And then there are those that talk poorly about everyone and anyone, in hopes of bringing others around them down to their level.

Pick your teams cautiously, it’s a long journey in this thing we call LIFE.

Looking forward to seeing many of you soon, but first a little more rest and relaxation for Rhea, the darn cat and myself.

Wishing a wonderful and safe Happy New Year to those near and far!

A question follows for our Bleu owners:

Back when the only meat on the supper table was from game shot earlier in the day, not everyone could afford a horse on which to hunt, and long legged hunting dogs used by wealthier hunters were impractical for a person on foot. In France, the solution for hunters of humbler means was to restrict the speed of their dogs, and that meant shortening the length of leg. Selective breeding and evolution yielded several “basset” breeds, basset coming from an old French word “bas(se)” that literally means “low” or “short.” To our knowledge, there are six basset breeds, and one of them is the Basset Bleu de Gascogne.

Bleu owners, are there many of you who hunt with your dogs? How would you describe their hunting style? Tell us what we need to know about these dogs in the field!

The dog world as a whole needs to come together and lose the “holier than thou” attitude which many possess. We need to welcome in new dog fanciers with open arms. We are too few to push “newbies” away.
I can guarantee you that, once, your favorite dog person was a beginner as well.

Patricia Trotter was once a beginner.
Ronald Menaker was once a beginner.
Diego Garcia was once a beginner.
Laura Reeves was once a beginner.

Your favorite breeder was once a beginner.
And let’s not forget, you were once a beginner.

I have no idea who will say Done in my post.
