Brother sister duo Brooks and Dunn 🤠🎸

These two puppies were Lost and Found their way to the Shelter of Hope. After a few weeks in a loving foster home, they know It's Getting Better All The Time.

They Believe that a Hard Workin' Man (or woman) is looking for a new companion to H***y Tonk Stomp and Boot Scootin' Boogie down a Red Dirt Road with. 🎶

Brooks (tan) is Little Miss H***y Tonk herself and loves to play with her toys. She knows the solution to any problem is to Put a Girl In It because Cowgirls Don't Cry.

Dunn (black and white) is a Brand New Man and enjoys snuggling with his foster family.

We don't know why these two puppies haven't gotten the interest we expected, but God Must Be Busy. They had a few applications and then no-shows for their meet and greets appointments, which resulted in our Next Broken Heart.

If you're interested in welcoming one of these pups into your home, please fill out an application online at https://www.yateshumane.org/dog-adopter-survey

How many Brooks&Dunn song titles can you spot in this post?? 1, 2 Many?

Calling all Zodiac Academy fans
The golden girls Roxanya and Gwendalina are currently accepting adoptions.

In typical golden retriever fashion, they are friendly lovable girls who would fit into many households.

Roxanya is estimated to be 9 months to 1 year old. She's a little shy around new people, but opens up quickly especially if you get on her level.

Gwendalina is estimated to be 2 years old. She smiles when meeting people and sits right down for belly rubs!

Please fill out an adoption survey at https://www.yateshumane.org/dog-adopter-survey and we will be in touch with you.

Step 2: answer your phone or email when we reach out and schedule a meet and greet time to get to know the pup(s) you're interested in.

These young ladies are ready for their spotlight 🔦🤩
Lark, Lexy, and Larissa started life off rough as stray kittens running around the streets of Rochester. Luckily they were picked up by a TNR group, spayed, and sent into a caring individual's home for foster care and socialization. They ended up here at the HSYC in hopes that they will find their forever homes ❤🏠 They have come leaps and bounds with their socialization and can't wait to find their new people! They are looking for a quieter home that will be patient with them while they adjust to their new life. Once they settle in and know they can trust you, we know they will be an AMAZING addition to your life! Stop in to meet them, they can't wait to meet you! 😄

Today is National dress up your pet day. Leigh and Hank want to introduce themselves and talk about their current style.

Leigh is a 5 year old spayed female pug/beagle mix. She was surrendered to Animal Control because she couldn't get along with the poultry 🐓 at her previous home and is looking for a home without the temptation of chicken nuggets.

Hank is guestimated to be 3 years old, he was found by Animal Control and never reclaimed. He's a now neutered male large mix breed and is looking for his forever home.

Both Leigh and Hank were recently spayed and neutered. They are showcasing their E. collars (Elizabethan) for dress up day to explain how important it is to keep pets from licking at their surgical incisions. Because shelter animals are without direct supervision for long periods, we use e collars after surgery to ensure they heal up as quickly as possible. Even with their E collars on, they can eat, drink, play with toys, and go for walks.

Show us your pets favorite outfit in the comments below.

Attention followers:
Please read this educational post and understand that the Shelter of Hope is doing our best to care for the homeless animals of Yates and surrounding counties.

We are contracted with Yates County Animal Control to house the dogs they find as strays. We post the stray dogs with as much information as possible as a *courtesy* for them and to increase the chances of reuniting these lost dogs with their owners.

Our recent post about the stray golden retrievers has gotten some negative attention based off of assumptions. When we make a courtesy post it isn't for people to lay claim as first in line for a dog that isn't even available for adoption and it certainly isn't for rude assumptions about the previous owners. We ask that if you recognize the dog(s) or live in the area they are found to help spread the word about them. If you have information about them call YCAC at 315-694-6077.

Comments bashing their previous owners or stating you hope their owners don't get them back are not the reason we post them. So let's remember the golden rule *if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all*

We’re thrilled to share a wonderful update from one of our dedicated volunteers, Ellie Fleet, who is currently working towards earning her Eagle Scout rank with the help of BSA Troops 725 and 25. These troops have been instrumental in shaping future leaders by improving our community, and Ellie’s project is no exception.

When Ellie was younger, she visited the Humane Society and formed an inseparable bond with her cat, an experience that she credits with changing her life for the better. Now, as part of her Eagle Scout project, Ellie wanted to give others the chance to create similar bonds by enhancing the shelter’s walking paths.

Thanks to Ellie and her troop, three new benches and two beautiful trees have been installed along the shelter’s trails. These additions are designed to encourage visitors to spend more time outdoors with the animals, fostering those meaningful connections that can change lives.

Next time you're at the shelter, be sure to check out the benches! We are deeply grateful to Ellie and her troop for their hard work, and we look forward to seeing more people enjoying the trails and animals.

Thank you to everyone who participated in making this project a reality!

📅 Today is National Standard Poodle Day and we're excited to introduce Nikki 🐩 and Gigi 🐩.

The Standard Poodle 🐩 is a medium sized, active, smart, water dog breed. They were originally bred in Germany to retrieve waterfowl 🦆🦆🪿. That's right, they are "duck dogs!"

The name Poodle is from the German word "pudel", meaning "to splash in water". 🌊

These 5 year old poodle sisters are true to the breed. They have "parti" 🎉 coats meaning splotches of color mixed with white. They are spayed and vetted and ready to find their loving homes.

If you're interested in adopting Nikki or Gigi, please fill out a dog adoption survey so we can contact you for an appointment. https://www.yateshumane.org/dog-adopter-survey

Cabella is an 8-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound who, despite her age, maintains a youthful zest for life. She enjoys her playtime and outdoor adventures but equally cherishes moments of relaxation with her human companions.
Cabella's kind face reflects her gentle and affectionate nature. Like many coonhounds, she is loyal, intelligent, and strong-minded, making her a delightful companion.
Her keen nose is one of her standout features, a trait common in this breed, who are known for their exceptional scent-tracking abilities.
Cabella would thrive in a home that balances her need for activity with her love for relaxation. Regular exercise is beneficial for dogs in her age group, as it helps maintain their health and happiness.
If you're looking for a loyal companion who can keep up with your active moments and also enjoy quiet times by your side, Cabelle could be the perfect addition to your family. Come meet her and experience the joy she can bring into your life!
