I can’t describe how overwhelmed I am right now. There is soooo much to do & the requests keep coming; for intake as well as foster. So grateful for those individuals keeping me afloat right now! ❤️Socializing new animals is soooo time consuming! Time that we do not have! Chilling with the piglets is way more helpful (to me as well as the animals!) than one can truly imagine! ❤️
I’ve always known there was tremendous healing power in animal interactions but it wasn’t until our family was experiencing one of the most devastating losses one can imagine, that I truly understood the depth of healing on such a personal level.
I had taken my kids to a farm far from home, some place where there were no memories, nothing to trigger more pain before the current pain had been processed. The owner of the farm turned us loose on his property to hangout with his animals & told us to stay as long as we wanted. ❤️ (I feel it was no coincidence that the farmer had experienced the same thing when he was young, so the depth of understanding & compassion was unmeasurable. 🙏)
Our nonprofit has always offered free “animal snuggles” (we legally can not say animal therapy) to those dealing with grief, trauma, terminal illness, etc. but now there will be an actual licensed therapist available here providing sessions with an equine partner. ❤️ Therapy fee paid to therapist.

There’s little I can say to really explain how much our animals do not like the heat, so here’s another picture……
We decided to join the Cotati Kids Day VERY last minute. ⏰ (We’ve always enjoyed taking the horses but didn’t feel we had the bandwidth this year…….but with horse entries becoming almost nonexistent we decided to make it happen.) ❤️

Safari Encounters
The morbidly overweight pig has been here just over a month & still does not want to get up. 💔 She’s on pain meds to help keep her comfortable but without exercise she won’t make much progress.
We haven’t had many options due to the heat but since we had a relatively cool day, we decided to kick her out of her little hermit hole. She doesn’t have to walk around but she has to be outside……..or not.
Apparently walking is too hard, but breaking and entering is not. 🤦🏻♀️ We’ll try again after this current heat wave passes.
Ever have that one coworker who always looks busy but you never see them produce anything? 🤣
I’m absolutely not a fan of turning indoor cats out, but we do not have indoor capability, no cat rescue or shelter has been able to assist them & after almost a year of fostering them in a catio with no interest we’ve decided to allow them to venture outside during the day. (Although they still spend the majority of their time in the catio.)
Our non-profit does not take cats but unfortunately when the cat owner had to move into a memory care facility, no resources for the cats were found. 😔
Have our mentioned how much our animals enjoy their normal mild California weather? This is why we adjust our farm tour schedule when it’s hot. 🤣

I believe this farm tour is a great experience for all ages, however kids tend to prefer the domestic animals over the exotics & adults tend to prefer the opposite. 🤷🏻♀️

We try and do natural abatement whenever possible. ~ Soay sheep for thistle.
~ Guinea Fowl for ticks.
~ Owls for rodents.
But anytime time animals are involved, there’s an added level of care required. Apparently one of our owl boxes (the favorite box of our resident owls) became damp inside making it uninhabitable. We only found this out when we noticed a downed owlet. 😥
Sonoma County Wild Rescue is now caring for what ended up being 3 owlets & hopefully they can return home soon. 🤞🏼

Rarely do animals attempt to steal the emus food, as they do not share well. The peacock does not care.
When I say we have fair weather animals, I’m truly not exaggerating. It barely hit 80 and everyone ducks for cover.

Welp, looks like we’ll be housing a couple of male guinea pigs for a while. Their temp enclosure is a bit of a trial run but it’s at-least done for now.

We have a lot of guinea pigs; taking on a couple here and there really makes little difference, as long as they are FEMALE!
We have a requested to take in a pair of male guinea pigs because their humans are moving. We have agreed but we would really rather them find something better. ❤️
I feel like we have a really nice setup for our girls but we don’t have that kind of setup to accommodate boys.
Is there a wonderful home out there who would like these two beautiful boys?
