In the first 12 days after Hurricane Sandy devasted our communities, we have provided the equivalent of over 450,000 meals, including hot meals from our kitchen, military rations (MREs), shelf stable food, disaster boxes, and fresh and frozen items for organizations cooking for victims and rescue workers.
The FoodBank has been operational since the day after Hurricane Sandy, providing over 33,000 meals in the first 4 days after the storm, when most of our member pantries and other agencies were still not able to provide assistance due to power outages or flooding. We continue to work closely with shelters, senior centers, Red Cross, Offices of Emergency Management, nonprofits, and community grass roots efforts to provide food after the Hurricane in both counties.
Thank you to the hundreds of volunteers, food donors and financial supporters in our local community and from all over the country, who have been offering and providing their greatly needed services to us and our community in the last few weeks. Your kindness has and will continue to provide hope for thousands still suffering in the aftermath of the disaster at our Jersey Shore.
There is still much work to be done. Please help with relief efforts by making a contribution online and designating it for Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief.

Good news: New Jersey weather forecasters are saying that as the storm moves up the coast from Florida, it is expected to slide farther from the state than they thought. It could mean less wind and rainfall on land.
