Friends and followers - this isn’t an easy post for us but we need help.
We are inundated with Danes in need right now. We are getting tagged, messaged and emailed constantly to take in Danes that are simply unwanted, or have wound up in a self-rescuers unknowledgeable hands who are now overwhelmed and need help, or Danes that are in dire medical need or have been abused/neglected/abandoned and the area’s animal control/shelter won’t help them either.
It’s a constant barrage of need and being begged to help.
And we would love to be able to help them! Truly. But where do we put them all? We’re already maxing out our vet and paid boarding.
Our adoptions are at an all time stall, and our intake demand has never been more insane.
We had our biggest annual fundraiser/adoption event this past weekend, where we had 30+ adoptable Danes on site for people to meet. There were hundreds of people in attendance and our Danes were all on such excellent behavior…
We got a total of four applications that day. Yes, you read that right. Four.
We got zero foster apps.
I don’t think people truly understand the actual plight of the rescue world right now. We have Danes that have been waiting in foster care for YEARS to be adopted. We have puppies that aren’t getting attention.
This is our reality.
When you have nothing going out the door, you can’t continue to bring more in.
We now have three alumni needing to come back in soon. Our policy is once a NWFLGDR dog, always a NWFLGDR dog. We do not turn away family. Ever.
So once again, we will pay to board them. We can’t sustain this though. We are paying to board too many Danes. It’s not fair to them. And we’ve been relying way too heavily on paid boarding for overflow for far too long.
As of today we are on INTAKE CLOSURE. We cannot continue to bring in more dogs with nowhere to put them.
The need for fosters is so great. Please consider fostering. Please consider opening up your home to a dane in need and being a bridge to their forever life.
Our foster coverage area is generally along the I-10 corridor - from Mobile to Jacksonville and surrounding areas.

Sorry for the depressing post but we are really struggling.
Thank you for your support.
