More new corals came in this week!!
Including a HUGE Acanthophyllia at an AMAZING price!!!
Like I'm pretty sure the price I paid for it was probably a typo because it was too good, but the Acantho is perfectly healthy!
I kinda want to keep it for myself! 😭
You gotta see it in person. And bring napkins for your drool. 🤤

Hey everyone! I hope you and your tanks are staying warm! 🥶
I wanted to jump on here and mention a couple of things in case some people lose power in the path of this "icy" storm.
✨️I'm a part of several reefing groups on my personal FB page and I'm seeing a lot of people comment about how to keep your tanks warm in case of power outages. I'm surprised to see that a lot of people have been recommending others to heat up water in water bottles, etc, and float them in the tank to add "heat" to the tank. This method works pretty good in the summer months when you float frozen water bottles in a hot tank. ✨️However, this unfortunately isn't going to get you very far doing the opposite and trying to heat up the tank with warm water containers/bottles.
The reason for this is due to something called "specific heat capacity." Unfortunately, water has a very *high* heat capacity, which means it takes a lot of energy added to a small amount of water (1g/mL) just to increase it by 1 degree Celsius.
✨️In other words, you would need a lotttt of very hot containers of liquid floating just to possibly keep the tank at optimal temperature, and even if you could fit that many in your tank, it still won't help unless the water is circulating, since thermoclines will develop (layers of water with different temps).
✨️I tell you this so you don't waste precious time on false hope here with this method. Of course, having a generator is the best advice one can give in a power outage situation, but I know not everyone has one of those.
✨️So, in case you lose power and you're finding yourself trying to keep your aquarium warm, the first thing I would do is:
💥 Cover any open-top areas with something non-porous/non-absorbant, if possible. (Glass, plexiglass, anything that will repel water, not absorb it). This is to help trap heat from escaping at the surface.
💥The next thing is try to insulate the outside of the glass with whatever you can (blankets, towels, etc.).
💥If you have a digital infrared thermometer then immediately check the temp (or asap) of the tank to get a baseline temperature. Even if the temperature reading isn't accurate, you'll still be able to see how much the temperature has dropped over time.
💥If power stays out for too long with no hope of it turning on and temperature is getting too low, then as a *last resort* you can put as many animals into buckets with tank water as you can and go sit in your heated car.
💥If you have an inverter in your car to plug stuff in, then at least grab a tote, start filling the tote with buckets of tank water (with the empty tote IN the car so you don't have to carry it while it's full of water) and stick a heater in there with all the animals in it.
💥Lastly...pray 😁
But hopefully it doesn't come to any of that for anyone!!

Merry Christmas, Royalty Reefers!!🎄🎄🎄
Thank you guys SO MUCH for the busy week last week and for another successful year!!❤️❤️❤️
With last week's turnout, I do want to re-mention that I am NOT closing down for good lol, only for the month of January 2025! 🤣
Tomorrow (12/26) and Saturday (12/28) will be my last days open until February!
I still have a few frags left, CUC, frozen food, etc!
If I don't see you this week, I hope you have a fantastic New Year!!🥰🤗

Hello everyone! 🙋‍♀️I have an announcement!
Starting January 2025 (in two weeks) I will be taking time off from my shop being open.
I want to clarify that 💥I AM NOT CLOSING ROYALTY REEF💥lol, but I am merely allowing time to focus on another sector of my business that I will be starting soon!
Announcements for that will go out as soon as it's ready.
With that being said, I am not ordering in any new inventory until either late January or early February and I am discounting my *available* livestock until I close at the end of next week (12/28)!
All available frags are $5 off starting today (reg. price $10-$35) and CUC packages and deals are still going on!
I also have frozen food and some Reef Nutrition foods still available (normal price).
I am planning on being closed the whole month of January and open back up in February!
Of course, I will still be around if anyone needs anything. ☺️
Thank you for all your support and understanding and I can't wait to share my new business adventure with you! ❤️
