I don’t often take my camera on my daily walks with Bay, after all it’s dang near impossible to wrangle her on leash AND work the camera all by myself so usually the camera stays home. But last night I decided it was too pretty and sometimes I just need to go play!

So off we went, camera in one hand, leash in the other (yes homegirl was leashed the whole time!) and we hit our favorite local park - Navy Fed Recreational Park. With such a clear day I was really able to play with the backlighting which is my all-time favorite look. The sun just makes everything ooey-gooey magical!

I think I snagged a few gems that made the struggle & sweat worth it. It was a good reminder I need to photograph my own pups more because the memories captured are priceless. And just look at the most precious hellion out there - she’s adorable!

Do you know what a dog in a yellow collar, harness, vest, or sporting a yellow leash means? It means that particular dog needs his or her space. Today is 💛 Day 💛and anxious, nervous, reactive dogs everywhere need our help raising awareness about it. 

Many of you probably don’t know, but I have a nervous & reactive pup, Saylor. The thing is, he wasn’t always that way. The loss of his sister, Sky, hit him hard and since then I have spent a great deal of time training, working on confidence building and learning about his triggers. And let me tell you, grieving the loss of his old spunky personality is HARD. Being a reactive dog owner is HARD, it feels like everyone else got that carefree, fun loving pup you dreamed about and all you want is your pooch to enjoy life like that too! But on those hard days I remember that I am SO privledged to be the person he trusts more than anyone else in the entire world and he would never trade me for a piece of steak or a pet from a stranger.

So while I’ve learned he will never be my Downtown Pensacola Strolling buddy, we have found that nice long trail walks are calming for him & we are so lucky to live in an area with all sorts of walking trails we can explore. Just because he isn’t the friendly mayor of Dogtown doesn’t mean we can’t responsibly find activites that enrich his life.

For us, Saylor’s reactivity boils down to his sensitive personality & lack of confidence. For some, it could be a past experience or owner, the dog’s breeding, or a physical condition. You never know the struggle that a pup maybe facing on their walk and this is why it is so important to keep your non-reactive pups leashed when out in public too, it’s the safest way for us all to enjoy time with our babies. Spread the word, watch for yellow, and let’s all help support !

🚨Remember, if you suspect your pet has eaten something poisonous you need to act fast.🚨The smaller the pet, the less poison it takes to cause serious illness or death. Identify what your pet has ingested and call your vet immediately.

It’s my turn! 😍 was designed for folks like yours truly who had an idea and then busted tail to bring it to fruition. So, please allow me to share with you why I am so passionate about my … 

Do you ever look at your dog and feel like your heart is just walking around outside your chest? Like you just couldn’t possibly love anything more and would do any thing for them? That’s how I feel and yet lots of people don’t get it, they say things like “It’s just a dog.” No, it’s just a dog to THEM. But to me, my are my whole world. It doesn’t matter that they have four feet and fur they are still my FAMILY. They are the ones that make me laugh and wipe (ok lick) my tears away, they run excitedly to see me when I get home, and they appreciate my cooking! In those day to day moments, it’s my fur babies rocking along right beside me.

But when I went looking for a family photographer that REALLY understood where I was coming from, I came up short. Sure they love dogs and welcomed them at sessions but when I would ask about dog friendly location for my reactive dog, explain how he is scared of new places & strange noises, they would all get quite.

That’s when I started on my journey as a PET photographer, incorprating training of pet behavior and animal pychology in addition to leveling up my photography skills. I whole heartedly believe that even if your kids have fur, they deserve beautiful portraits capturing their one sweet precious life. The love & bond you share isn’t any less worthy and will last forever. I get that and I know other pet parents do too.
