Last week I let a bird get past me that was not indicative of the high quality that the local public expects of us and has enjoyed over the last 10 years. New customer so really nothing for him to measure our history with other than the work on our site and the recommendations of others. We mount a lot of birds and whether it was an ideal specimen or not has no bearing in this case…at the end of the day we did not do a good job with what we had to work with. That’s always my pledge to the public… that we will do our best with what we have to work with and I can’t say that we did in this case. The responsibility for that rest solely on my shoulders, and I accept responsibility for it. As a Taxidermist, you get to hear all the stories about what the other Taxidermist down the road did. I always tune that out because I have nothing but respect for the other people that I know who choose to do what I do for a living. Every taxidermist I know in the area is good at what they do and good people…We all strive to make everybody happy because it is on our interest to do so. But we’re human and we’re all going to make mistakes. The one thing that I ask, is that none of us be measured by our mistakes but by our successes. There’s an old saying that says we won’t be remembered by the many things that we did right but instead by the few things that we did wrong. Unfortunately, that tends to be true, but I will say this… There’s a history of our work in this area…mine and the wonderful people that work with me, that speaks for itself. This time we fell short, but we work hard enough that hopefully another 10 years passes before we make a mistake like that. As always, we appreciate everyone’s business. I wish we were perfect, but that’s one standard we will never achieve.

Are you accepting work?

This is the question I am getting quite a few messages about asking if we are accepting work this year.

Yes...We are accepting work...small and large lifesize mammals, birds, replica fish and Gameheads which will include whitetails. However, whitetail quota will be limited this year. All others on quota will be announced as we get close to capacity.

We are simply attempting to keep our backlog manageable and this is a necessary step in that direction.
