✨ Huge congratulations to Susan Godwin for winning the Portofino 2-Night Vacation giveaway, part of our Swim for Them II, Even Further Annual Event! 🌊

Susan shared her joy earlier today, “I am so excited to be the winner of the Portofino Vacation drawing benefiting Pensacola Hotel for Dogs and Cats- Adoption and Rescue Shelter Service! Thank you so much to The Ward Group, Spanish Trail Veterinary Hospital PA, and all the sponsors involved with this event! Coach Andrew and his team of dedicated relay swimmers completed the 26-mile swim and raised over $6,600! It’s such a joy to see the community work together to support this cause! My husband and I do not have any pets, but we have GRANDDOGS! Meet Everett (Weimaraner), Aubrey and Charli (Goldendoodles)!

Your Grandogs are so lucky to have you as part of their pack! We are thrilled you’ll get to celebrate with a special stay at Portofino.
To everyone who made this possible, thank you for your kindness, generosity, and teamwork in making this event a success! 🐾❤️

Halloween isn’t just for humans anymore—our furry friends are taking center stage! From tiny witches to superhero cats, people everywhere are dressing up their pets and flooding social media with some of the cutest, funniest, and downright spookiest photos of their beloved companions.

Why do we love it so much? Pets bring out the best in Halloween. They make us smile, laugh, and let’s be honest…sometimes they steal the show! So if you’re dressing up your pet this year, make sure to snap a pic, share it with the world. After all, Halloween is for everybody… especially those with wagging tails and little paws! 🐶🐱

Dr. Liz's husband injured himself and will not be able to swim the event this year. However, an incredible group of swimmers stepped up and will be doing a relay to complete the 26 miles this Saturday to support Hotel for Dogs and Cats. Each $25 donation is one entry to win a two night stay at Portofino. You may donate via the go fund me link listed below. Thank you everyone for your support!

This week is National Vet Tech Week and we have some of the absolute best around. Our wonderful, hard working techs are always comforting your pets in the back and giving them reassuring love when you aren’t around. They are consoling an owner that may be saying their last good byes to a family member, then running to the back to assist with a procedure. They are always on the move and keeping us Doctors in line!! We truly could not do our job without these wonderful humans. If you see our techs this week please tell them thank you and how amazing they are! They have one of the toughest jobs around.

Dental health is a very important part of your pet’s overall health, and dental problems can cause, or be caused by, other health problems. I am a firm believer that keeping your dog's mouth healthy will give them a longer, happier life. These photos below represent dogs with severe dental disease and all of this plaque holds infection and pus that your dog is swallowing and digesting. This plaque also causes severe bone loss and gum recession which can result in painful or abscessed teeth. We recommend your pet's mouth be evaluated by your veterinarian at least every year especially if you notice an odor from the mouth. Here is a link to read more about why dental health is SO important to your pet.

We are watching closely the possibility of a storm this week. Hoping it stays east of us! It is best to go ahead and prepare now just in case!
1. Make sure you have refilled all of your pet’s medications and have enough to last you at least a few weeks
2. Make sure to have enough of their food as well!
3. In case of an evacuation, make sure you have their vaccine records which can be obtained via the app shown below.
4. Be prepared they may have storm anxiety and we can fill medications to help with that.
5. Make sure their microchip information is up to date.
6. If you are planning to board your pet’s with us this week, please have someone that can come get them in case the storm hits. The staff will only come in when it is safe to walk the dogs.

Please keep your eyes open for this little guy.

Update 9/18 8:30pm: Found and safe!!!

For everyone asking how he was found:

We last saw Jasper on Abbie Lane today so that spot was one we frequently returned to. At 8:30pm (34 hours after his escape) he was spotted at the end of Abbie Lane by Davis Animal Hospital owner’s April and Nate. They watched him slip through a gate at the end of the lane and kept the thermal imaging camera on him as they phoned his Mom and Dad who were searching nearby. When they arrived everyone proceeded to move forward with the thermal camera tracking and Mom and Dad squeaking toys and calling him. Jasper was running around making sure to take one last lap before the most joyous reunion in the world took place! He was immediately transported to the animal hospital for an exam to make sure he was well. He is now home (and probably sleeping) after all of Olympic sprinting events today! We are all overjoyed and thanking God for the best possible outcome today!

♥️A HUGE thank you to our amazing community of animal lovers who came together to make this happen. Thank you for searching. Thank you for lifting us up and giving us hope. Thank you for keeping us encouraged, for defending us, for caring so deeply.

♥️ Thank you especially to Jasper’s parents who gave us grace when we needed it and understanding when we felt like we didn’t deserve it.

Update: After our awesome Sheriff Chip W. Simmons looked into the matter of trespassing on the property to get Jasper, he found the officer in question was not a deputy with the Escambia County Sheriff's Office and was in fact an off duty officer with another agency. Our ECSO deputies maintain a 100% dog loving position! We are happy they showed up to de-escalate the situation for the Jasper recovery team. Living in a community where your local Sheriff cares enough to check up on a situation when it doesn't seem right, and then to pick up the phone and call you personally, is outstanding and so very appreciated ❤️
