Zoe booked herself some Premium Boarding with lots of snuggles, couch time and enrichment activities.

Her sister MADDIE is already here since 2 weeks to get quality training in, to build confidence and build foundations for the future. 🎉🎉🎉

He’ll also get a brush up on training while here. He is already very confident and loves to work but doesn’t know what boundaries are 😅😅

The snow is finally melting and we are off to a great end of the week.

KONA the German Shepherd is doing very good when it comes to her impulse control, being non-reactive and following commands with distractions. 🎉🎉🎉

BEAU is one of our private training clients. 🐕‍🦺
He has improved so much from when we started until now.
He walks great on leash, his impulse control training is improving daily and he is now able to be off leash to play, fetch and hang out since his recall is becoming fantastic, even with distractions. 🖤🙌🐶🎉

Now we are fine tuning his skills and watch him perform like a rock star 🤩🤩🤩

As much as we love the adorable bond between our furry friends and little ones, it’s essential to remember that dogs also need their own space! 🏡💖 The importance of giving our dogs boundaries is crucial for their well-being and for fostering a safe environment for everyone.

Why is space important? Giving dogs the opportunity to escape to their own safe spot helps prevent stress and promotes a happier, more relaxed pup. Dogs, like us, can feel overwhelmed, especially when there's a lot of activity around them—like when toddlers are zooming around! 🏃‍♂️💨

**Signs of stress to look out for in your dog:**
- Panting or excessive drooling
- Yawning or lip licking
- Ears pinned back or a tucked tail
- Finding a hiding spot
- Growling or snapping

This boy is really a breeze to host 🙌🙌🙌
He loves to make friends and enjoys the big yard to run around. On top of that we’ll do some field trips to check on his training. 🐶🐶🐶

German Shepherd LIONESS graduated today from our “Good Dog” Board & Train program with flying colors. 🏆🏆🏆

She was under the professional guidance of Jürgen, who is an excellent dog trainer and IPO competitor from Germany. 🇩🇪🎉👍🐕

Lioness now walks nicely on a lose leash with dogs, people and other stimuli present, follows verbal commands, can perform an extended stay anywhere (parks, stores, downtown shopping area or malls) and came overall a long way 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌

But as everyone knows: TRAINING DIES NOT END HERE‼️

We will be back next week to see how the transitioning is going and to give her owner more hands on instructions to keep up her training journey. 🎉🤩🐕🖤☺️

Attention all pet owners! We wanted to raise awareness about a common sugar substitute that can be highly dangerous to our furry friends—**Xylitol**, often labeled as **Birch Sugar**.🛑

**What is Xylitol?**
Xylitol is a sugar alcohol commonly used in various products due to its sweetness without the calories of sugar. However, it is important to note that it is extremely toxic to dogs, leading to severe health issues, including a rapid insulin release that can cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), seizures, liver failure, or even death.

**Where is Xylitol Found?**
You'll be surprised at how many products contain Xylitol. It is often found in:

- Sugar-free chewing gum
- Sugar-free candies and mints
- Dental care products (toothpaste, mouthwash)
- Certain baked goods (like sugar-free cookies and cakes)
- Some peanut butter brands (check the labels!)
- Nutritional bars and snacks
- Ice creams and desserts labeled as sugar-free

**How to Avoid Xylitol?**
1. **Read Labels Carefully**: Always check the ingredient list for Xylitol or Birch Sugar on food products, especially those that say "sugar-free" or "low-calorie."
2. **Choose Dog-Safe Treats**: If you're looking for treats for your pets, make sure they are specifically labeled as safe for dogs. Stick to known brands with clear ingredient lists.
3. **Educate Family & Friends**: Make sure everyone in your household and your pet-sitters are aware of the dangers of Xylitol.
4. **Store Products Safely**: Keep all products containing Xylitol out of your pet’s reach. Be mindful of where you store items like candies, gum, and personal care products.

**What to Do in Case of Ingestion?**
If you suspect your dog has ingested Xylitol, contact your veterinarian or an emergency pet poison helpline immediately. Time is of the essence!

🐾✨ Exciting day for our Service Dog in Training, HEIDI! 🐶💖 She had her vet visit today and absolutely smashed it! 🥳💉 She got her last set of shots, dropped off a stool sample, and we even hooked her up with her heartworm, tick, and flea preventatives! 🦠🐕 Heidi truly showed off her amazing temperament throughout the visit.

A HUGE shoutout to our wonderful breeder, **vom Zwillingshaus German Shepherds**! 🏆🐾 The entire litter is exceptional, boasting stellar nerves and temperament from health-tested parents! 🌟💪 We're so proud of our girl!

Also, a reminder that we at **K9-Kent** are proud fosters and trainers for the non-profit organization **Walk Forward **, where Heidi is receiving her training!

⁉️WHAT IS PROOFING?
Proofing in dog training refers to the process of ensuring that a dog reliably performs a specific behavior or command in a variety of contexts and environments, under different levels of distraction, and with varying levels of difficulty. The goal of proofing is to make the behavior robust and consistent, so the dog can respond appropriately regardless of the circumstances.

Kona has shown some challenging behaviors, which include aggression towards dogs, people, cars, and even that sneaky vacuum cleaner! 🐕🚗🧹 But here's the thing: training an aggressive dog is a journey that requires time, patience, and a variety of approaches. 🔄⌛️

We're excited to help Kona learn to manage her reactions and discover that the world can be a safe and pleasant place! 🌍💖

Additionally, for her safety and the safety of others, we will be muzzle training her. 🦴🐕
Muzzle training is a responsible step in ensuring that we can manage her environment better, as we all know you can never fully control your surroundings! 🙌✨

🐾🎉 Hey there, dog lovers! 🐶✨ Check out our recap video of NYX the German Shepherd's first week in Board & Train! 🎥💪 We started with a sweet but anxious boy who felt the need to 🗣️ bark at everything around him!
