Happy International Cat Day!

August 8 is International Cat Day — a day to celebrate one of man’s most common and ancient pets. They have even been worshiped as gods (we see you, Egypt.) Well, it is not surprising, Cats are one of the coolest beings on the planet: they are independent, inquisitive, adventurous, have an amazing physiognomy, and the power to heal by themselves — at least most of the time.

If you’re a crazy cat lady (and her crazy cat family), you may also have crazy cat goals. Mine was to have a long haired orange kitty. A few months later, we fostered a litter of gingers and this guy fit the bill.

He’s softer than a cotton ball, has the cutest furry snow shoes, is chiller than chill, and gets along well with the dogs. He’s spent much of the last several days meeting the OG’s and tonight was a first family meal. I’d say it was a success!

The world has lost one of the most special people I have ever known. Ever since childhood I have adored ’s work. But I came to deeply love the person behind the work when magically the world brought us together years ago through cats. Who would have known that a call seeking help with newborn kittens would evolve into a friendship that truly felt like family? We always told each other how grateful we were to have found each other that way, and how much we loved one another.

Paul was a thoughtful, hilarious, giving, compassionate, insightful person who was one of the most kind friends I have ever had. His love for animals and appreciation of nature was absolutely beautiful. Animals seemed to flock to him, and oh, how he loved them all! His generosity was unmatched, and he never missed an opportunity to send a gift, or a gif, or a video saying hello. He loved his friends and rejoiced in their happiness—I will forever remember how the day we bought our house he planted us a mulberry tree from seed! He was so fun and so funny and had such great, quirky, wonderful ideas; I don’t think I’ve ever met someone so uniquely themselves and that authenticity was a such a gift to behold.

It has been a true honor to know and to love him, and I cannot believe he is gone. I am devastated. Paul, thank you for putting so, so much good into the world and into my heart. ❤️

Everyone say “meow!” to the newest batch here at Lynch Family Fosters! Meet the Wolf family, starting with Big Bad…and her little wolf pack Maugrim, Vardan, Jadis, Oreius, and Fenrif. Photos with names to come later when sexed and safe from the Big Bad Wolf (very spicy, very feral mama). This sweet family was trapped at the last TNR in the west valley, where The Barn House spayed / neutered 63 feral cats and returned them to their colony. Well, hellooooo Mama Chele! She’s a lover, and she loves to play! A very loyal kitty who was saved from the streets after being dumped by her family. Not only did she raise a beautiful litter of her own, she fostered ANOTHER litter and saved the precious Easter Orphans. Chele would do best as an only cat UNLESS you take her foster son, Peter, as her playmate. She is currently housed with five other cats and there are occasional territory issues.
