What is your rats’ favorite treat?

Mine commonly get sunflower seeds, cooked chicken bones, fresh veggies, plain popcorn, and rolled oats. On birthdays I will give a single mini M&M. Around Halloween I give them pumpkin guts and seeds. Frozen peas in a shallow water bowl on hot summer days like today.

Sometimes I toss a whole peeled banana in the cage and watch them frantically try to drag it off. 🤪

I am sure I have said this before but I just saw a post in one of the many rat groups, of someone letting their new kitten play with their rats. Do NOT do this. It’s not “cute”. Keep your rats separate from your other pets for their safety. It’s your responsibility to keep your animals safe. I don’t care how supervised or harmless you may think it is, you are taking an unnecessary risk on your pets’ wellbeing for your own amusement.

End rant lol

* edit to clarify! The 10-14 day dose of amoxicillin is soley to help with new home sneezes. It is not a substitute for veterinary care. It’s OPTIONAL to use for the first two weeks of bringing your rats home. If you don’t notice any sneezing in those first two weeks, then you don’t have to use the amox. If your rat becomes ill after those first two weeks, that is not new home sneezes, please see a vet so your rat can be given the correct meds for what they have.

Decided to spend some adoption fees to get these lovely little dropper bottles for my adopters. For several reasons, I recently started providing amoxicillin at pick up, as an optional remedy for new home sneezes and URI preventative. That will now include a glass bottle and measured dropper to make dosing easiea
