This is why dog training (or ANY type of training) takes time.
It takes about 300-500 reps for a skill or behavior to become 'natural' and develop muscle memory.
Now if your dog learned a skill 'incorrectly or has engaged in an undesirable behavior 300-500 times.. it's going to take 10x the amount of correct repetitions or correct behavior choices to counter the incorrect ones.
That's 3000-5000 correct reps, to fix that bad habit!
So it's totally normal if dog training takes time.
It's normal to have good and bad days.
Its normal if it feels like it's taking a long time!
Some dogs don't just have 300-500 reps of incorrectly practiced behaviours.. but MONTHS or YEARS.
You're not going to "fix" that in a one hour training session, or a 6 week groupclass or sometimes even months of training.
Every dog, every person, and every situation is different.
Real change takes time. Be patient. Be kind. Be consistent. You will get there!
