Hashbrown #173 went home a few moments ago! Hashie has always been a fan favorite because of his playfulness, vocal abilities & loving nature! This kitty has ruled the room from the moment he entered it & we are excited to see him get settled in at his new home!

It was a big weekend at the River Kitty! We saw two more adoptions approved just today!

#171 is Mittens! She’s a super soft, sweet long-haired kitty that stole our hearts with her shy and sensitive demeanor. So happy for you and your new family!

Our sweet Bo is #172, which seems like the same number of seconds he was in our presence! Always affectionate and playful, Bo is sure to have a great time with his new cat siblings (and the human ones too!)

Missy ( #170) found her forever home! This sweet, sweet lady went home this evening and we couldn’t be happier for her!

Thank you to everyone who showed this girl some love, considered adopting her, put in applications for her (she had 4 total!), & shared our post about her!

If you visit the cafe tonight, you might notice that someone is missing. This spot on the back of the couch, previously owned by Velma, is now vacant. Although we will miss our sweet and chonky girl, she is now adoption #169 and we couldn’t be more thrilled!

Friday December 6th, our volunteer adopted her fur baby, Malik, #164!
Malik, now known as Walter, is a sweet & handsome boy with quite the playful streak! We’ll miss you, Walter but you are in great hands!

UPDATE! 🚨
Missy has an approved application & will be going home today!!! 🚨
We cannot thank our Facebook family enough for the out pouring of love, support & sharing of our Missy Moo!

Missy is 9 years old & front paw declawed, so considered a senior cat & through 12/15 her adoption fee is paid, which means no fee to you! She was an owner surrender due to them being unable to care for her any longer.
She is a sweet lady isn’t transitioning well to shelter life. It’s very stressful for her and she is hiding more often than not. When you seek her out, she loves pets and purrs when she feels safe. We think she would make a wonderful pet in a calm home where she can destress and get all the love without 20 other cats and 15 humans around.

Please consider giving Missy a home for the holidays and forever!

Adoption #168 happened today! His name is Prince & he wasn’t even with us for 24hrs! He’s a big handsome boy who loves to play & get into mischief! Congratulations to his family!

We have only 4 more days until the end of Empty the Shelter ends. So all of our babies adoption fees are $50 or less! Don’t forget, we have several whose adoption fees have been paid by generous donors! Come see for yourself!

In 9 months, one woman can birth 1 child. In 9 months, this cat cafe helped 167 cats find their forever homes!!!

Over the weekend, Bat ( #165) & Vampire ( #166) found their forever home and get to live their lives together! We’ll miss these 2 and their shenanigans, as well as their loud purrs and cuddles!

Tonight, on our 9 month anniversary, Garfield ( #167) went to his forever home! His name fit him perfectly (Peoria County Animal Protection Services kudos to whoever named him, his face & tail look just like his cartoon counterpart!) He is a one of a kind, for sure! Miss you, buddy!

🐾 Adopting a new cat? Setting realistic expectations for adjustment periods is important! 🐾 Don't give up on your new friend if they are slow to adjust, realize they just went through a scary new change and become their support buddy! This is an amazing opportunity to build trust. 🐱❤

Cats especially need time to adapt to new environments. They are sensitive to their surroundings. Patience is key! Every cat is different, but with time and love, they’ll bond with you. ❤️🐾

I’ve been meaning to stop by a place that sounds like a really fun and unique destination and that place is the River Kitty Cafe.

It’s a coffee shop where you can play with a room full of cats! And yes, it was fun and very unique!
