This is why we do what we do! While playing and cuddling with the cats is an amazing perk, River Kitty Cafe exists for this exact reason!! All the highlighted kitties found their forever homes while being kept here at RKC. We are so lucky to be able to provide an additional location for PCAPS cats to be housed, loved, and cuddled while waiting for their new families!

Thank you Peoria County Animal Protection Services for helping save these cats and allowing us to be a small part of it❤️

Two amazing updates from us here at River Kitty!

First, OUR SIGN IS UP!!! We are so excited and hoping this will make finding us easier. It is hand painted and just beautiful.

Second, we listened to you, our amazing patrons, and have switched our MWF hours to 9-12 starting tomorrow! And just a sneak peak at something we are cooking up…soon we will be open every weekday during the morning and early afternoon!😻😻

Fee waived adoptions!
Adopters must visit the shelter to adopt and be approved by the standard adoption process. Monday - Saturday, 12pm - 5pm, June 1st through 7th.

What does it mean when a shelter hosts fee-waived adoptions?
For PCAPS, it means we took in a record number of animals, and we need to find them homes, quickly.
PCAPS took in over 600 animals in the month of May.
600 animals.
On a normal month, PCAPS takes in about 400 animals.

If you've ever considered adoption. NOW is the time.
If you are a transfer partner and you can help us out. NOW is the time. Even if you can take just one! Every one helps.
If you are an animal owner and you are considering surrendering your pet to an animal shelter. NOW is NOT the time!

Marshmallow waited so patiently for her perfect family, but when it was time to go home, she could barely contain herself!!!

Tomorrow is the day! We are testing out morning hours for a few weeks. It’s the perfect time for morning drinks and morning cuddles!

Stop and see us for our latte flavor of the week (Almond Joy!!) and a snack from Le Bakery.

We have some exciting news! Starting Monday, May 27, we will be doing a trial of morning hours on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays! If this proves to be a busy time, we will look into having these hours all summer.

We also are changing our weekend hours just a bit. Saturdays and Sundays will now be 10-7 with an hour for cat naps at 2 PM.
