Update from the Mayor of Peotone on the Streetscape

🚧 Hi everyone! Want to give an update on the Downtown Peotone Streetscape construction. Since the beginning talks of this, I have mentioned my concerns for Styled Canine and our clientele being able to safely walk our furry companions through the construction. I was assured accommodations would be made. I have spoken to board members, the engineers, and a village staff member (who had absolutely zero care) about the safety of walking dogs long distances AND through construction.

I had requested a 5 minute parking spot close to the salon to help avoid the risk of clients being dragged or falling down. Helping to reduce the risk of injury or loss of a pet. Does anyone else have these concerns?

Also have been advised to attend the next village meeting which is on 🗓️04/22 @ 6P. This means the salon will be closing early. I encourage anyone else with the same concerns to show up or even call the village. Hopefully we can make this change for the safety needed. I’m going to attach the link to the project showing the detours and the “adequate parking” they have provided during the project. Thank you for your patience and support during the Downtown Streetscape estimated April-November. 🚧

Big changes are coming to the downtown area!
We are still waiting to hear official dates for construction to begin.

We hope for patience and support from our beloved clients during this trying time of construction. I will do everything in my power to advocate for ease and safety for pets during the construction.

All Peotone residents and businesses should have received a postcard in the mail last week from the Village, inviting everyone to an Open House about the upcoming Downtown Streetscape Project. The Open House will take place Wednesday, April 3 from 4-7pm at the Will County Fair Atrium. All are invited to come and meet with Village representatives and the contractors who will help to beautify our downtown area! Be sure to save the date and join us! The Mayor will also host two informal meetings for residents to come and ask questions this week on Wednesday (3/20) at Game On and Thursday (3/21) at Cornerstone Coffee House. Styled Canine has 𝐚 𝐥𝐨𝐭 to be thankful for this year. 🦃

Most of all, we have the b̳e̳s̳t̳ clients. I have had a really rough year health wise. I just can’t believe how blessed I am. 🥹
Not many people get to wake up every day and love going to work. ✂️ Thank you from the bottom of my heart for always being open, flexible, and understanding. Whether it be about your pet’s haircut, moving your grooming appointment because of ANOTHER Dr appointment, perhaps a medical issue or a new behavior we’ve noticed… having great clients who love their pets the responsible way just makes my heart burst! (In the good way… let’s not go back to heart surgery days LOL!) 🤗

I wish for good health, peace, and laughter for you this Thanksgiving. Please remember to minimize table scraps. If your dog is overwhelmed, it’s ok to put them up away from the party.

Anabella has not been eating and is becoming very depressed in the loud shelter setting. She needs OUT asap.
PLEASE SHARE! NO INTEREST!

Anabella is a 14 years old Cocker Spaniel that was recently surrendered to JTAC due to the health of her owner. Her owner was also bouncing from motel to motel as she was homeless and knew it was in best for Anabella to surrender her to our care. She's in pretty rough shape. Anabella currently weighs about 30 pounds and was EXTREMELY matted. Her paws, ears, and torso were thick and thanks to Karen's Pet Grooming & Boarding for taking care of our girl. At no surprise to her breed, Anabella has double ear infections that were left untreated and she now has polyps/stenosis in her ears. She has dry eye, dental disearse, and a grade 3/6 heart murmur. She is also partially deaf and blind. JJC did some bloodwork, UA, and ear cytology. Ear Cytology was AS 3+yeast and AD 4+ yeast. Bloodwork and UA are available by email request. With her current condition, our vet was surprised how upbeat and spunky she is. Anabella does great with other animals from dogs to cats. Anabella needs a full senior work up/makeover to leave out her golden years. If interested in pulling Anabella, please email [email protected].

Most of you have heard by now … I broke my leg. AGAIN!
Unfortunately this time, I broke my Tibia in 5 places and my ankle in 2 or 3; so surgery with a rod and pins was unavoidable. This has kept me non-weight bearing, unable to groom, and needing to keep my incisions clean. Follow up with my surgeon next week to hopefully give me the OK to return to work.

Those who remain loyal to our services, we can’t thank you enough. I 100% understand how frustrating this is. Those who choose to find service elsewhere, no hard feelings. I understand business is business. We wish you the best!

⭐️ I have to insist clients who have my cell phone do not reach out and ask me about my return date and scheduling appointments. My Mom has communicated all information we know. It is imperative I spend this time at home focusing on healing and not worrying about the business and my sweet fur clients.
