The Babinski Foundation will be the model shelter in our surrounding area, making sure that we address issues of pet overpopulation via our services and provide education on how to prevent it. We also aim to prevent as many pet deaths as we can year after year. The Babinski Foundation believes in the Five Freedoms for animal welfare.

This smiling boy is a four-year-old, 62-pound Pointer mix who came to the shelter under tough circumstances. He was in danger and rescued from a "farm style" euthanasia by some friendly people who briefly took him in before surrendering him to the shelter. While Boomer is not a great farm dog, he is a wonderful companion! He's so friendly with all people, well-trained with great leash manners, and loves to cuddle more than anything else. He's a total love bug who even enjoys bath time. Boomer is almost completely potty trained, only having a few accidents here at the shelter. He would love to join your family. If you have a resident dog, please bring them in for a meet and greet with Boomer as he can be a little shy of new canine friends!

Boomer is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccines. You can visit him at the shelter Tuesdays through Sundays from 8:30 to 5:00 PM at The Babinski Foundation in Pequot Lakes, Minnesota.

We're desperately searching for loving homes to temporarily foster or fully adopt these incredibly sweet dogs. Both small and large breed dogs are available for foster or adoption starting today. Help us find these animals the love and comfort they deserve!

Blackberry is the cutest 2-year-old, 5.4-pound cat who looks and acts like a kitten. Her petite size makes you want to hold and baby her, and she has no complaints about it! Blackberry came to the shelter as a stray after someone found her wandering in the woods behind their home and is now excitedly awaiting a forever home. She's a social and cuddly girl who likes to play!

Forget everything you learned about facing a bear!! Unless you learned to give it a hug and call it a good boy because that's Bear's favorite greeting! Bear is a 1-year-old, 63-pound German Shepherd mix with a beautiful white/tan coat and the most darling personality. This charming guy was surrendered because his previous owners couldn't give him the time and training he needed to succeed. Bear is looking for a family who can spend time with him and provide him with lots of exercise and enrichment. He loves other dogs, all sorts of toys, and catching chunks of snow! Bear is fully potty trained and "sits" very nicely. This gorgeous boy is so ready to share his loving and friendly nature with one very lucky family!

Katrina is a 1-year-old, 8.5-pound Domestic Shorthair cat who came to the shelter in rough shape. She was found as a stray with a major injury to her tail that called for a partial amputation. This sweet girl is handling her current, cone-head situation very well! Her tail is healing up perfectly and she's ready to find a family who will appreciate her sweet and lazy self. Katrina loves getting attention from people and once her cone is off, she'll be rubbing up against your legs asking for pets nonstop!

This high-energy goofball is a five-month-old, 36-pound Boxer mix who's ready to liven up your life! This charmer loves to run and play, especially with other pups. He enjoys playing with toys, practicing his "sit," and giving lots of kisses. He briefly lived with a foster who helped to kennel train him and work on his potty training! He does great besides the occasional accident. Klaus likes to play hard, so we've learned he would do best in a home without cats.
