The Babinski Foundation will be the model shelter in our surrounding area, making sure that we address issues of pet overpopulation via our services and provide education on how to prevent it. We also aim to prevent as many pet deaths as we can year after year. The Babinski Foundation believes in the Five Freedoms for animal welfare.

Hakuna Matata! You'll have no worries for the rest of your days with one of these DSH kitties by your side. Timon and Pumba are a 6-month-old brother and sister duo who came to the shelter as strays. These cuties might have been on their own for a while, so they're very excited to join a family and make themselves comfortable in a warm home. Timon and Pumba are quite affectionate but do take a moment to warm up to new people. They're naturally curious and can't help but give your hand a sniff or bat at a feather toy!

😎 Presley 😎
Presley is just a hunk, a hunk of burning love! This sweet boy is a 5-month-old, 35-pound American Staffordshire Terrier mix. He's the friendliest pup around and loves both people and other dogs! Presley would be the perfect addition to a young family who loves to go on outdoor adventures. While energetic at times, Presley also loves to curl up with his pals for long snuggles.

🥰 Dean 🥰
This sweet and shy boy is a 1-year-old, 7.9-pound Domestic Shorthair cat who came to our shelter as a stray. He was found wandering in someone's yard, brought here, and unfortunately never claimed. Dean is a loving but very shy cat. He's still adjusting to life in the shelter and searching for someone gentle and kind who can make him feel safe and loved! He loves getting pets from the shelter staff and volunteers and enjoys a good cuddle with his feline friends, like Horace!

Meet Diesel! This cutie is a 1-year-old, 69.5-pound Doodle mix who's so friendly and energetic! Diesel is always ready to run, play, and tucker himself out. He especially enjoys playing with other pups who have similar amounts of energy. This darling boy is looking for a home with people who can provide him with lots of enrichment, adventure, and training opportunities. He's an intelligent dog who already knows "sit," and "stay," but who is ready to learn so much more. Diesel had a few accidents in his previous home, but we think with a routine and a little additional support he'll have no problem getting his potty training down.

This electrifying girl is a 2-year-old Domestic Shorthair cat who came to the shelter when her owner sadly had to move into assisted living. Electra has been opening up more and more every day! She's a shy and independent girl who would enjoy a calm home where she can do her own thing and nap the day away! Electra accepts gentle pets and we hope she will continue to open up in a home environment. Electra is FIV+, so she's looking for a home with no other cats or with other FIV+ cats!

🐾 Senior Socializing 🐾
The Babinski Foundation Animal Shelter is delighted to bring joy to local seniors and care facility residents through visits with our shelter dogs and cats. These outings are incredibly beneficial, brightening moods, providing social interactions, and alleviating feelings of loneliness for the residents. For our furry friends, it's a welcome break from the shelter, a chance to socialize with different kinds of people, and a guaranteed extra-long nap after an hour of playtime with adoring fans.

We absolutely love these senior socialization outings, but we recognize the demand goes beyond what we can currently provide. That's where you come in! Volunteering at the shelter offers a variety of opportunities, and this is a truly special one. If you're passionate about providing heartwarming interactions between our puppies, kittens, and local seniors, please apply to volunteer at The Babinski Foundation. 😍 The Corgi Crew 😍
UPDATE: ALL THREE OF THESE DOGS FOUND HOMES TODAY!

In order: Gypsy (F), Chumlee (M), and Lucy (F). All three of these dogs are purebred Pembroke Welsh Corgis. They're incredibly friendly and do well with children, other dogs, and cats!

Gypsy is an 8-year-old, 37-pound senior girl who still has some puppy sparkle in her eyes but requires lots of napping and snuggles. She's a huge fan of people and will run right into your arms! Gypsy is kennel and potty trained.

Chumlee is a 4-year-old, 36-pound low rider who loves the simple things in life like sunbathing and squeaky toys. He would love to join your family and smile up at you every day with that sweet face!

Lucy is a 4-year-old, 28-pound girl who is friend to all! Her favorite game is getting belly rubs and her favorite treat is a nice big bone to gnaw on. Lucy is certainly a love bug who will be expecting lots of snuggles and treats from her new best friends.

Also known as the "better to ask for forgiveness than permission kittens!" If you're just seeing this post now and haven't heard from your significant other for a suspicious amount of time... Congratulations! You just might have a new kitten waiting for you at home!

These three littermates are 9-week-old Domestic Shorthair cuties who came to the shelter to find their forever homes. They're super snuggly and relaxed kitties who are curious about new people and new smells! They're a little shy at first, but open up quickly to new friends. The "L" kittens are microchipped, vaccinated to age, and available for foster to adopt until they're old enough to be spayed or neutered at The Babinski Foundation.

🧡 Perkle 🧡
Perkle will paw at your heart, just as he paws at his glass, in search of love. This handsome, blue-eyed boy is a spirited 10-year-old, 11.75-pound Domestic Shorthair senior. He arrived at the shelter as a stray and was never claimed. We imagine Perkle was once deeply loved and cared for, given his strong affection for people. Though he's a senior, he has the energy and goofy attitude of a young whippersnapper when the mood strikes. Perkle is guaranteed to be your best pal!

😍 Kenna & Kayla 😍

Kenna and Kayla, who have been together their entire lives, are looking for a new home. These two Papillon mixes, Kenna (6 years old, 8.25 lbs) and Kayla (7 years old, 13 lbs), originally came to the shelter from a less than ideal situation in a home highly populated with animals. They were then adopted by a loving man who cared deeply for them for a year, but unfortunately, his declining health now prevents him from doing so.

These energetic and playful girls love walks and playtime, enthusiastically running circles and enjoying squeaky toys. When it's time to relax, they are gentle and affectionate, happily settling into laps for pets. They also enjoy warm baths and bring brushed! These two girls are so full of love for one another and for every new friend they make!

So cute, so friendly, so phie! Sophie is a 1-year-old, 8.25-pound Domestic Shorthair cat who previously lived with other cats and a dog! She is a friend to all creatures, two or four legged! Sophie is ready to be your at-home ASMR as one of her favorite activities is chewing on cardboard. She'll readily choose an empty box over a toy! Sophie is a lovable girl who likes both snuggle time and playtime. She's a curious girl who loves to explore and climb cat trees. Come visit her if she sounds like a good fit for your home!

❤️ Vesper Update ❤️
Vesper, our sweet little fighter, is feeling much better after a week of care at The Babinski Foundation! This young pup arrived more than a week ago, struggling with seizures and a parvovirus diagnosis, seemingly at death's door. He's surprised and delighted us with his incredible strength and resilience! He has regained so much energy and is ready to experience all the joys of puppyhood.

Vesper and his littermates will soon be looking for their forever homes once they've fully recovered! Keep an eye on our social media for updates on this amazing little guy and to learn how you can welcome him into your family!
