Dog Tired Guitars

Dog Tired specializes in creating custom telecaster style guitars.

With our Heritage Series, we aim to add color to and preserve Oklahoma history by creating guitars using wood from old structures around the state. Each guitar comes with a certificate of authenticity that details the history of the structure from which the wood was harvested. I'll be collecting wood from each county in the state and will produce a limited run of these guitars.

I’m in Seattle for a gig at a big conference, and we hit the Seattle International Auto Show. Saw some AMAZING cars, including a freaking Muira and an RWB 911!! A 911 is my dream car, so I was in heaven.

My friend, , debuting his Dog Tired bass with at the Hard Rock Cafe in Tulsa over the weekend. It’s always a great feeling when seeing something you created being put to proper use by a pro.

This zebrawood looks AMAZING after a few coats of to***co brown dye and some wipe-on poly top coat. The chatoyance practically glows in the daylight. Really looking forward to getting this in the hands of and watching him rip it up with !

Stillwater is known as the birthplace of Red Dirt music, with its genesis being a place just outside town called The Farm. The Farm was an old 2-story Sears Roebuck house where the early pioneers of the genre would gather with Bob Childers to write, play and hone their craft. The house burned down a long time ago, but the central garage/pavilion (dubbed The Gypsy Cafe) still stands and hosts evening jams and gatherings with local musicians. There are also several old, dilapidated outbuildings standing on the property.

When my friend Patrick asked me to build him a bass, he spec’d the body shape, finish, and pickup selection, but didn’t have a preference on wood. He wanted something with a story, though, and I couldn’t think of any better music stories from the area than those that surround this legendary gathering place.

I got some incredible news tonight! I got the ok to grab some REALLY special wood for my next couple of guitars. It's stuff like this that got me interested in building guitars in the first place.

Apparently my retirement from building was short-lived. I plan to build more guitars this spring, and I'm looking for some barn wood. Anyone have or know someone with an old barn who wouldn't mind getting rid of some wood? It doesn't have to be in Payne County. I don't mind driving a couple of hours to pick it up.

Finally got beauty shots of this one, the CraftsmanCaster. Chambered oak body and wenge neck. This one was built using the same wood the client’s dad used to craft all the interior woodwork of his house.
