Hi everyone! Pictured is a Kenyan Sand Boa we have in store for you. Kenyan sand boas are heavy-bodied stout snakes with a blunt head, small eyes, and a thick, short body and tail. Females reach around 26 to 32 inches while males will only grow to about 15 inches. Did you know that sand boas will burrow instead of striking when they feel threatened? This rapid defense behavior is aided by their ability to quickly “swim” through loose soil and escape danger. Come check out this beautiful sand boa for only $125.99. We are open until 6pm!

Hi everyone! We have the sweetest update on an Indian Ringneck that we sold earlier this year. He is a DNA sexed male and his name is Vinny. Did you know that an Indian ringneck singing or talking with a new owner is a beautiful sign of trust and bonding? A contented ringneck is happy to chatter, sing, and whistle in the presence of their bonded human. This takes time and patience to establish and Donna has definitely done a wonderful job with Vinny. We absolutely love the pictures, videos, and stories we receive and enjoy sharing them with each of you. It was hard to choose a video to share. This song was a favorite of ours. I hope you enjoy this as much as we do! Thank you for giving Vinny a wonderful home, Donna!

It was a celebration for our ONEderful little Quigley who completed his first journey around the sun on September 22nd. Quigley reminds me of a simpler time when my twins were smaller and to enjoy each day as a gift. Special thanks to Kelli Gowdy Photography who captured memories for us. Please enjoy this video I put together from that special day.

This post is in great length. To those of you who take the time to read it with an open heart and mind, I thank you.

I had plans with a friend earlier this week.
I got dressed up, showed up... waited, and texted, and called, and waited some more.

No text. No call. Just me sitting there, wondering what happened. I was so worried, I was about to drive over to her house.

Then I got the text:
"Sorry. I fell asleep."

Fell asleep??? What?

I'll be honest. My first reaction was to send something really sarcastic. I was so annoyed!!

But then I stopped.
This is someone I love. And if she fell asleep like that, I knew she had to be completely wiped out. She isn't having an easy time right now.

So instead, I texted:
"It's OK, get some rest, we'll do it another time. I love you."

Seconds later, my phone rang.

Verbatim, she said,
"Girl, I'm in the car. I didn't even comb my hair. My dress is on the seat. Don't leave, we’ll fix me up in the bathroom like I'm the class tramp at prom.”

I laughed so hard.
And in that moment, I was just... grateful.

Grateful I didn't let my anger or ego take over.
Grateful I gave her grace.
Grateful I have her in my life.

Then yesterday I got out of the shower to find two missed phone calls. One is Joseph and the other is another great employee. As the employee explains the situation, the customer walks out.

I look at the time and realize we are a couple of minutes from the store manager coming in so I sent a text and called the store. The manager is going to gather information and reach out to the customer because we care about the situation.

In less than ten minutes, phone a friend has taken place and we have a negative review that we didn’t deserve. I stopped right there. I called my manager and said, “pray for them. There’s nothing we can do.”

Sometimes we have to look at what other people are going through too, before we react with only how it affects us.

While we have come to understand that we will never be able to make every single customer happy, we are grateful to those who have grace and allowed us time to assist in situations that arise.

We want to thank each of you, our valued customers, for the honor of ranking 1st place in Houston County in 2025. We are honored to be here serving you and supporting our community. The plaque has been ordered and will be proudly displayed when it comes in.

Have a beautiful and blessed day,
Melissa

Did you know that raccoons do not wash their food? They wet it, there's a difference. It turns out that their dexterous forepaws are covered in tiny sensory spikes and the density of pressure sensitive cells on their paws are about 5 times of most mammals. Humans and other primates match them in this respect. Their brains are wired such that nearly 2/3 of their cerebral cortex's sensory perception is devoted to touch. So when raccoons wet their food and submerge their paws those sensory spikes on the paws soften and become more sensitive making them feel the surface even better. The raccoon is seeing with its paws. Even long periods in cold water does not reduce this sensitivity. This helps them find food in aquatic and muddy conditions with diminished visibility. It also lets them see food with their paws while keeping an eye out for predators. Raccoons are very smart and adapt well to new situations. If you put something down that a raccoon has never encountered before it doesn't shy away from it. Its first inclination is to grab it and investigate!

We are open from 10am until 6pm today.
Stop by and see us!
