We FINALLY finished putting up electric fences today. The horses werenโt willing to wait and came running into the pasture yesterday! They loved the freedom! They were running up and down the hills! LOVE IT!!! So happy to finally get the pasture done!
Spring is here! Everything seems to have grown overnight!
This was my fun day yesterday!
Got about 1/3 done!
Iโm happy to see a path again, my arms..
Not so much!
Rhythm got a new grazing muzzle and โsomeoneโ had to try it on! Who wore it better? #EquineAssistanceProject #EAPSanctuaryhorses #EAPRhythm

Bayou has had a REALLY rough month and a half! (and a lot of vet bills)!
He had Pavement founder and then an abscess right after he was cleared to start working.
He has lost a lot of muscle in the past month and a half so today we took him out to the arena and let him work up a sweat!
Hoping to rebuild slowly and get him out there a few times a week to get a workout!
Even at not quite 100%, he is still a beautiful mover!

Trough cleaning day! Rhythm grabbed the hose at one time and sprayed everyone before she scared herself!

Today we let Rhythm out with the rest of the herd.
Always expecting the worst, I made everyone leave the paddocks and we opened the gate.
Needless to say, it was completely uneventful lol
They did great!

Bayou had the all-clear from the vet to go back to work!
He was diagnosed with Kissing Spine a few years ago and the area where he had an issue has now fused.
He will hopefully be going up for adoption in a couple months!
He is a really sweet boy.
Marissa has been working with him to get him back in shape!

Goodbye Willow! We will miss you forever!
I can't even begin to tell you how my heart is breaking right now! Many of you know Willow. She was my first official rescue and has been the inspiration for all of our rescues after her.
Today, at almost 40 years old, we had to let Willow go over the rainbow bridge.
She had been losing weight and progressively getting worse since we lost Joe, her buddy.
Our herd and our hearts just won't be the same without her!
I am grateful that we were able to give her 7 amazing years of love!
She was such a special girl and honestly, gave us more than we gave her!
I will never forget the day I got her. She was looking over the fence. I stood next to her and she put her head on my shoulder and fell asleep. It was one of those rare moments that happen between human and horse that is just indescribable!
Today I gave her a final brushing (her favorite thing in the world) before we said goodbye to her! Like her first day, she stayed close to me and kept leaning on me. I think she was telling me that she was tired..and it was time.
I know Joe was waiting for her when she passed and they are now back together again!
We will miss you Willow Cookie. Forever! ๐
Miss Willow, our favorite oldie isn't doing so well. Today the vet is coming out to evaluate her. She has lost a lot of weight since the move and her knee joint is "huge". She is still getting around fine, but when standing, she doesn't want to put weight on it.
I'm not sure what the outcome will be, but she has lived a wonderful 7 years with us. Praying there is something we can do for her at this point.
Please send prayers her way!
(in the video you can see her consistently lifting her leg)๐ข

Our old guys have been apart from the rest of the herd all winter for extra feeding.
They are all finally back together.
Make sure and watch till the end!
Willow girl(almost 40!) showing she's still got it! โค๐ด
Both Willow(the paint) and Kali(the black mustang) have special needs and require medication all year round!
Willow needs extra grain and supplements to keep weight on her and for her arthritis!
Kali needs antihistamines(as you can see by her rubbing) and arthritis medication

Creek flowing - Glenn Ellen, CA
This Creek was so dry as of a few days ago, that we had to have water trucked in for the horses!! Look at it now!
