We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated home groom to care for 3 working horses and 3 retired horses. Responsibilities include all standard duties such as stall cleaning, tacking up, operating the walker, bathing, clipping, feeding, and managing turnouts.

Drug, alcohol, and drama-free

CDC 051224 states that bird flu can be transmitted by wild birds and waterfowl like ducks and geese through their droppings and secretions, such as saliva. When poultry or other animals come into contact with contaminated environments or infected birds, they are at risk of contracting the virus. There's ongoing research into whether wild birds on farms could transmit the virus to cows through contaminated water or feed, according to Davis.

Many of us expose our horses to pastures frequented by birds, which means these areas may also contain bird droppings and saliva. As a precaution, I've begun applying liquid lime weekly to the pastures and covering all my hay, even though it's stored under a roof. If anyone has additional suggestions or preventive measures, please feel free to share them.
