Longer days, greener grass, and happy pets... it must be the first day of spring! But don’t forget. Pets can get seasonal allergies too. If your pet is extra itchy, it might be time to check in with the vet.

We encourage all our clients to read this article published Jan 3, 2025 to learn the lasted guidelines designating Leptospirosis as a core vaccine.

https://www.aaha.org/newstat/publications/leptospirosis-vaccination-recommended-to-be-core-for-most-dogs/

An initial series of two vaccinations spaced 4 weeks apart is recommended followed by annual boosters. This series can be started at 12 weeks of age or later. Washington Square Vet Clinic will require repeating the series if your dog does not receive its annual booster for the Leptospirosis vaccine to be effective. Please book vaccine appointments online @ www.wsvcpets.com.

Thank you!

Every dog has a unique voice! Today’s tip is to use positive reinforcement by rewarding calm behavior with your dog's favorite treat and lots of praise. This approach not only builds trust but also celebrates your pup’s perspective—one of our core Positively Pillars.

How do you reward your furry friend during training? Let us know in the comments!

There's no better way to show your pets love than by having them spayed and neutered. Spaying and neutering not only supports healthier lives for our furry companions, it also helps prevent overpopulation in already crowded shelters.

At our facility, every animal receives spay or neuter surgery before finding their loving forever home. Please consider signing up for monthly giving by joining the SF SPCA’s Circle of Friends to support our shelter veterinary services year round: sfspca.org/monthly-donor. 💖

Did you know a study by the American Veterinary Medical Association found that just 22% of lost dogs and less than 2% of lost cats that entered animal shelters were reunited with their families? But for microchipped animals, the return-to-owner rate for dogs was more than 52%, and more than 38% for cats!

We will be offering free scanning and microchip registration information at both our Santa Rosa and Healdsburg campuses on March 4th, 7th, 11th and 14th, from 10am – 5:00pm.

Come check your pet’s information to make sure it is up-to-date, keeping them safe and sound.

Your cat can also get checked at Forgotten Felines of Sonoma County on Friday, March 7th or 14th. 9am-4pm
