National Check the Chip Day is celebrated annually on August 15th. This day serves as a reminder for pet owners to ensure their pet's microchip information is up to date and their beloved companions can be easily identified and returned home.

Microchips greatly increase the chances that pets will be reunited with their families if they are lost or stolen…but a microchip only works if its registration information is accurate.

To remind pet owners to have their pets microchipped and to keep the registration information up-to-date, American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) joined together to create Check the Chip Day. With support from HomeAgain PetRescuer, the AVMA develops materials to promote the event.

🐾August is Clear the Shelters Month! 🐾
Thousands of animals are brought into shelters and rescues as owner surrenders, or found on the street as strays every year. 😥This month (and every month), let's help clear the shelters by adopting a pet in need!🥰🐾You never know when you will meet your next fur-ever friend. These animals can be frightened or a bit withdrawn at first, but most often just need the right environment to settle in- which can be rather difficult in an unfamiliar shelter or foster setting! Try to remember the 3 days- 3 weeks- 3 month tip while your new pet adjusts to their new setting and give them plenty of love and patience. 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to establish a regular routine, and 3 months to fully acclimate and begin fully trusting owner with the right time and care.
