Very happy with our rides on Manolete J*P and Lorca J*P at the Woodbridge show yesterday. Yes, they do look a lot alike, they are full brothers! Manolete has found his forever home, Lorca is available for your consideration.

Working Equitation is perfect cross-training for dressage, with emphasis on transitions, suppleness and balance. It gives you and your horse the opportunity to experience the training principles from a new (and fun!) perspective.

Sign ups are open now for our next Working Equitation Clinic with Jack Burns at beautiful Woodbridge Farm in Petaluma, CA.

June 15-16 will be a great weekend of training. On Saturday we will focus on training principles for precision, agility and communication between you and your horse. Sunday we will practice the obstacles in the Ease of Handling phase of Working Equitation, and ride some courses.

For those new to Working Equitation, this clinic will be an introduction to the Dressage and Ease of Handling phases. For those experienced with WE, this is an opportunity to refine your skills for this year's show season.
Lessons are 90 minutes long in small groups of matched ability. Private instruction is also available. Cost is $175/day, or $300/weekend. Auditors are welcome.

We incorporate cavalletti into our dressage training regularly. This work helps the horse get stronger, more focused and balanced. It helps rider's equitation and it's a lot of fun.

🌧This weekend's Cavalletti Clinic has been postponed due to the rain, but we have a new date of Sunday, March 24 ! 🌼☀️

There are a multitude of ways to use cavalletti for your training. At our clinics, I like to show you some different ways to use them so that you can take the exercises home and practice.

These variations build your horse's strength, suppleness, and coordination.

🐴NUMBER: When we introduce our horses to cavalletti, we start with one pole on the ground so they get the idea of going over it. We can increase the number as the horse becomes more capable.
🐎SPACING: We can increase or decrease the space between the poles to emphasize different things for each horse. We can space them for one stride in between or several.
🐴HEIGHT: The cavalletti can be poles on the ground or raised to a height that is appropriate for the exercises. Increasing the height usually makes the work more difficult so we do so appropriately for each horse and rider.
🐎 PLACEMENT: This variation makes the work with cavalletti really creative, fun and effective. We can put them on a circle, bending lines, before and after jumps, around obstacles, and create lots of patterns. In addition to benefitting the horse, pattern variation really helps our focus in our riding.
🐴GAITS: Cavalletti work is done in all three gaits and can help develop transitions within the gaits as well (ie collection and lengthening).
