On
**Saturday, January 18th from 1:00-2:00 pm**
there will be bags of bedding available for pick up at Petersburg Animal Care & Control, 1600 Johnson Road, Petersburg, VA.

While indoor shelter is the best option, warm bedding is a must for outdoor dog houses.
Any leftover bedding will be available through the shelter next week Tuesday-Friday 10a-3p while supplies last.

Dog with pouty lips and a super adorable face found locked in the dog park at Mayton Transfer Lofts on E. Bank Street in Petersburg, VA. We are closed for intake due to our recent parvovirus outbreak, so if you are this dog's family or if you are someone who knows its family, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can safely make a pet-to-its-people reunion happen quickly!

Whose little one have we!? This precious, sweet fluff (with a haircut) was found in the 3200 block of S. Crater Road today (8-11-2024) and brought to the shelter for safe keeping. If this is your pet, or you know who it belongs to, please contact us at 804-732-3654 so that we can make a pet-to-person reunion ASAP! Please share! Let's get this this pet home safe!

Thanks to the powers of Facebook, Wolfie has been reunited with his family! 👏 👏
**Wolfie was missing from his home in Hopewell, VA. We are uncertain as to how he arrived in Petersburg, but we are certain that he didn't make the trip on his own. If you find a lost pet, PLEASE DO NOT transport the pet from one locality to another without first contacting the animal control agency of the locality in which the pet was found. As a result of being taken from his home in Hopewell and transported into Petersburg, Wolfie was unable to find his way back home on his own and therefore spent two stormy, rainy days hunkered down under a parked vehicle trying to stay safe and dry. Helping keep pets safe and helping get them reunited with their family is always appreciated, but ALWAYS remember to reach out to the animal control agency in which the pet was found first! 🙂

This pretty little grey PomChi type dog was found on Dering Road in the Battlefield Park neighborhood located in Petersburg, VA. Posts by a citizen on the Nextdoor app disclose that the little dog had weathered the recent rainy, stormy days by taking cover under a resident's vehicle. Do you have some extra l❤️ve, time ⏰, and a spot in your awesome home 🏡 for a little-ish 🤏 shelter dog dog? Check out Deuce! This little guy weighs about 18lbs full grown, and is quite a character! He's very extroverted and enjoys being the life of the party! The more people and pets are around, the more he enjoys the occasion! This boy is both fun and funny, full of silly antics and loads of personality! He also has the most unique coat of fur! His face is short coated and smooth (naturally, no hair cut!), while his body is full of tons of curls! If "Miniature Curly Coated Retriever" was a breed, we'd swear that's what he is! But since that's not really a thing, we're going to go with calling Deuce a Cocker-poo of sorts! Whatever he may be hiding in his genetics, he's adorable! Sweet! Happy!Funny! Awesome! And best of all, HE'S AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION! Come and visit us and meet Deuce! And shucks, while you're here, take a look around at our shelter full of available pets for adoption! You can help us find them homes by meeting them and helping us spread the word!

🔥 Marlow is available for adoption 🔥

Marlow, a male, wirehaired, terrier mix, 2 years old, and approximately 40 lbs, has made it to the adoption floor! With his movie star good looks (he'd put Benji right out of business and you know it! 😉) and his silly, funny, cute personality, Marlow will make a great addition for someone who is ready to add a furry addition to the family. Marlow is housebroken, friendly, and has done well meeting other dogs. We do not know how Marlow is with cats. Interested? Would you like to meet Marlow in the fur? Then what'cha waiting for?! Hello PACC followers! We have so many amazing dogs that we can’t keep up with posting them all. Since our internet is not as friendly as our pets we are thankful for various volunteers & staff coordinating focused efforts to get them exposure. Our Central VA Friends of Petersburg Animal Care and Control spotlights many & we’re sharing here too, but please access that page to learn more about our adoptable furfriends; some long term residents just caught in unfortunate circumstances.

Yes, I look a tad ashamed to find myself in this play yard at the local shelter. My running away didn’t go as planned & I need my people to come get me as soon as possible. Thank you to the kind citizen who kept me safe. 🐾❤️

We are always thankful for people who adopt pets from us. As everyone knows, adopting pets saves lives ❤️! But we also wanted to take a quick minute to express our appreciation to all of those who love their own pets, remain loyal to them, and come to us to claim them when they have landed themselves in our facility. Coming to retrieve your pet from us - THIS SAVES LIVES TOO! When we reunite a pet with its person, kennel space is freed up and we are able to help the next pet in need! We understand that "life happens" and pets escape from their families. It's an accident and we get it, so we are always happy to see people come for their pets and we are happy help pet owners with ideas and advice on pet care and responsible pet ownership - this is the service that we owe to you as your Petersburg City animal control officers!
So please, NEVER be afraid to come to us if we have your pet! Reuniting happy pets with happy people makes us happy too! 🙂

⭐️ 🐾 Volunteer Highlight 🐾⭐️

This is one of our longest, most faithful volunteers ever! Robbie & his momma take the best care of all of our precious cats. Robbie has had some health issues & been missing his “job”. We are all so glad to see him back in his happy place with a big grin. 🐾 Paws up for Robbie!
