January is National Train Your dog month and we have some pretty spectacular things planned for you. Be sure to check out our stories for the things we have planned for you this month. In celebration of train your dog month, check out why each of our trainers has chosen a career in dog training:

Manager of Education, Steph: I was introduced to dog training with my first Great Dane 11 years ago. My favorite part of working with dogs and their humans is being a translator of dog body language and communication for the pet parents. Seeing bonds form and relationships strengthen is my favorite. I also love working with puppies from 8 weeks until they are full grown to help set a solid foundation of learning and enrichment for a lifetime.

Instructor, Kenna: As a trainer I love being able to help the relationship grow. When a dog is acting out, they are typically just confused, misunderstood, and need someone to advocate for them. I love teaching owners how to build a relationship with their dog off of trust and guidance. There’s no love like a dog’s love, and being a small part in bringing that into people’s lives makes it all worth it.
