November is Diabetes Awareness Month. We want to send love and support to all of our incredible clients with Type 1 Diabetes as well as all the members of the diabetic community. Training Diabetic Alert Dogs has given me a glimpse into the world of living with Diabetes and I have met the most incredible, inspiring, and positive individuals through that journey! It is a huge honor to be able to support them through a service dog!

We are so incredibly proud of Mr. Goose (Golden Retriever) he is one of our Diabetic Alert Dog clients and has been absolutely excelling at his job! He and his handler met up with some other local teams and they all had a wonderful training day!

This right here is the entire reason we do this, these dogs are absolutely incredible in what they can do and Goose is one of the most amazing service dogs I have ever encountered!

Message from Goose’s owner:
“Goose literally saved my life last night. My Continuous Glucose Monitor wasn’t alerting my parents to my low and I eventually ended up going to like 30 but Goose woke me up when I was at 60!”

It is very difficult to wake up during a low blood sugar event, and a drop that fast and that low can be life threatening. A Continuous Glucose Monitor is a machine that keeps track of blood sugar and alerts to dangerous highs or lows. But technology fails and that’s where an incredible dog like Goose steps up! It’s also not uncommon for Goose and other Diabetic Alert Dogs to beat the machine and alert to a fast drop or low before the machine even detects the change. I am so proud of Goose and his amazing owner and incredibly honored to be able to be a part of a solution for them! Way to go Goose, you are the best boy!

Angel is working hard towards being the best service dog she can be for her girl! She has also been such a good helper for me at obedience lessons! Proud of this beautiful girl!

We are absolutely obsessed with the pup cakes and treats from Happy Labs Bakery!! Quality and limited ingredients and the pups think they are delicious!
Plus we got to work on our leave it command!
Lab tested to the Golden standard!

Goose was the best helper at Ozzy’s lesson! Ozzy has progressed so quickly and is working on overcoming big distractions like other dogs and behaving in public!

Goose is working on his “under” command. As a service dog in training he often needs to lay under tables, chairs, and benches. Such a smart boy!
