Why do we reinforce puppies names so heavily in the beginning?
We play Name Game where the puppy gets a "cookie" (piece of their kibble) every time their name is said from day one to help build a rock solid recall. We want their name to equal something super amazing so that when we do need to recall them, they come running! This sweet boy is about 11 weeks old and is still picking recall because it's been so heavily reinforced! Then later we can start to fade the cookie in exchange for play, praise and fun. For now we want him to come running any time we call so that it becomes the most fun habit to come back.

Dinner time food puzzles for everyone!! Oreo even has his crate door closed! The very best pups!
Why don't we feed in a regular food bowl? Make sure to take a look at our previous enrichment series to see some detailed info about enrichment but basically ditching the bowl will help you to meet your dogs needs through enriching their life and using their senses. This promotes a healthy balance of mental stimulation, sniffing, foraging and still uses the same food they would be eating anyways but in a more species appropriate manner. Give it a shot with your dogs, it can be super fun and super easy to add to your routine.

Dinner time enrichment for these sweet babies. Oreo is especially loving getting to try out new food puzzles and super loves when he discovers new little pockets of food. Layla loves a good chew or a lickimat

When the new pup is learning how to offer a sit to get a treat but the experienced pup lends a paw 😂🤣
Small dogs are just as capable and excited to learn and train as larger dogs. It's so important to find what motivates and drives each individual dog and equally important to let our little ones get in on the fun too! This little man loves learning new tricks and is always excited to show them off.
This little guy super loves the outside world and has a habit of bolting out the door any time his mom opens it. We are breaking it down for him in smaller steps so he can learn how much MORE awesome it is to stay inside the door instead of rushing out. Because he has such a history of door bolting, we are taking it slow to really reinforce that the door does not equal running outside but rather that all good and amazing things happen inside the door and slowly adding in that real life door opening scenario.
