The Run for a Million reining show was amazing this year! Saw a couple of my favorites! And as an added bonus “Spooks Gotta Whiz” came out of retirement to lay down an amazing run! So awesome to see my colts sire and how many similarities there are between the two 🥰 perfect experience!
Kahlua update
Kahlua update: This girl has a bit of an issue retaining information and has had some broken training here and there so we are working currently on building a better frame for her. We are working a circle better and starting to round out and get a nicer headset however, now we are trying to put both things together! Hard stuff for her! lol she needs to be reset often and reminded often but that’s okay! Baby steps for this little girl! Celebrate the efforts!
Lulu
Lulu update: since we are trying to make this girl as broke and solid as possible I’m spending a lot of time with desensitizing. The goal is for her to become a solid kids pony. She is taking all things in stride and using her brain. I adore this pony she is a true gem!
Rip
SOLD!
RIP: grade QH family rope horse
Khalua
Ms. Kahlúa working it out! The biggest focus with this girl is getting her to move properly and balanced. She has a tendency to ride very heavy in the front and her head turned out so we have focused heavily on that. We are starting to get a more rounded body and filtering nose to work a circle properly. Next step is getting that headset down and getting her to move balanced from nose to tail. Always work in progress!
Meet cricket!! This adorable little Andalusian is my borrowed horse for norco horse week 😁 he’s teaching me the Spanish ways 😂 don’t judge me I’m just learning this style of riding! lol
Putting in work with “Spooks Cody Gun”
Well since there is no training going on right now due to insane rain and storms here is a funny video of the bad baby Voodoo 🙄#theroyalpocosetup he took the shavings bag from me to play with.
Calliope working today. She took quite awhile to settle into riding after being broke but since she has she is such a good girl and has so much try! We are working on slowing her gaits down and balancing her body properly while working a circle. Not her best stop by far but it’s what she wanted to give me today so I’ll take it!
Miranda Mroz had her first ride on little Calliope today after staying with me a couple months to get broke. They did so awesome together! I really enjoyed working with this little mustang she is such a doll! These two have a bright future together and I can’t wait to see how they progress!
Those moments when we want to go on vacation but have so many horses here on supplements so have to make bags for the person staying here😩 makes me question if all the prep work before hand is even worth leaving at all! I’ll let ya know when I actually figure that out! 😂🤦🏻♀️
And then there is Jessi James 😂🤦🏻♀️ working on bridling with ear shyness so his bit is hanging low to allow more room to get over his ears until he gets a little better and this is what he gives me 😂 such a goofball I swear
Calliope update: this girl has been coming along well after breaking. She is a bit moody and has periods of time where she acts “off” or more flinchy than normal etc and takes a little bit to settle but she is doing well. She has a habit of turning her head to the outside when she is worried so we are working on that and slowing her transitions down to smoother ones. We spend a lot of time in the round pen trying to get her to use her body properly around a circle she tends to stiffen up a lot while riding due to nerves.
Calliope update: this little girl is doing great! She has been so fun and easy to work with. This is her first lope at length and she took it beautifully! A couple tiny grab ass moments but not too shabby! I have someone hold me on a line solely for my benefit I have a really bad back and can’t always sit a bronc like I used to be able to do she is my E break lol next session we will be without a line she doesn’t need it at all 😜
As always please excuse my annoying vocals 😂 I talk to them the whole time I train 🤦🏻♀️ lol
Who remembers little Calliope being a psycho path with the fly spray? 😂 well she is still scared to death of it but we have made progress!! Yes I’m aware I’m spraying detangler on her and not fly spray lol I got sick of wasting so much expensive fly spray and my bottle with water in it broke…thus she has no tangles anymore haha
Mr. Saint just cruising along! This little slow poke is looking for his new partner! 🥰
PATCHOULI UPDATE: This little donk is doing well! Slow but coming along! She actually accidentally picked up a lope today haha excuse my stupid surprised face but she is hard to keep in a trot let alone a lope! Lol and a walk to a lope! Man I was impressed with her! 😂 slow but steady with the long ear.
CALLIOPE UPDATE: Today was our first bareback ride! She did excellent! Not the most exciting video but what was important to me is that she stayed nice and calm and digested everything I was asking her to do. Proud of this little doll face today! 🥰
CREED UPDATE: oh man this has been a long time coming! It’s taken awhile for this boy to decide if he wanted to be lazy or be flighty and if he was done bolting and bucking in the lope or not but I think we are past the worst of it now! This doesn’t look great I am well aware haha but it is progress for him to be loping and not actually just continually grabbing ass and bolting. In time he will get better and more fluid and relaxed
