I am so happy to report that Val is no longer in limbo! The sweet family who is adopting two of her sisters decided they just couldn’t leave her behind, so all three girls will get to stay together. What a happy start to 2025!

And that brings up a great point. Did you know that rats are happiest in trios (or more)? They’re very social animals, and ensuring they have at least one friend is imperative to their happiness. Their social need is no different than their need for food and water. So make sure your rat has at least one good buddy, but if you can take on more, even better ♥️

This is Val ♥️ She’s the last girl waiting for her new forever family to find her. Because I only adopt juveniles in pairs, what does this mean for Val?

Juveniles need same-age company. They have lots of energy, and they’re still learning about the world. It’s best for their social development if they are allowed to have a friend who is in the same stretch of development. But that doesn’t mean they need to be the exact same age. As long as they are within a few weeks of age, they can be adopted with a juvenile rat that is a little younger or older.

Thankfully, I have another litter that will be on the site soon, and they’re only a little younger than sweet Val. That means she’ll be able to find a friend from that litter. In the mean time, she’ll have company ♥️ She’ll be kept with her sisters that I’m keeping until she finds her forever family.

If you’re interested in Val, shoot me a message! She’s a SUPER sweet girl.

It’s always something 😂😂😂 But on a serious note, learn from my mistake.

Rats are curious and destructive pets. They love to chew, and this destructive habit serves a purpose as well. But not all things are safe for rats to gnaw on. Be very mindful when setting things down near the cage. A forgotten rag left on top after cleaning day can result in a vet visit (or worse). Cords and cables are something else to be mindful of. It doesn’t even need to touch the cage (as is evidenced by my poor playpen). If the rats can reach it with their little hands through the bars, they will pull it closer and have a field day.

So whether you’re new to rats or a seasoned vet, it’s never a bad time for a reminder to check around your cages for potential hazards. Thankfully, none of my rats were harmed during their little night of terror. I was very blessed, but it’s a risk I should have been more careful about.

Look at all these cuties 😍 Itachi and Izumi really outdid themselves with this litter. I probably won’t have enough girls to go around because the waitlist is full, but if you’re looking for sweet boys, I’ve got you covered!! Or if you just want to look at the cuteness, I’ve got you covered there, too ♥️ 🐀♥️
