🧡 2025 Highlight 🧡

Throughout 2025, our team put in a lot of effort to ensure the safety and well being of so many cats!

Thanks to everyone’s dedication, TCC was able to respond to 5,189 cats!

2,157 of our trapped cats were able to be placed with rescues, found indoor homes, or were able to be reunited with their owners 😻

709 cats were feral and released after going to the clinic for their vetting packages ✂️

1,952 were owed pets that we were able to fund to be vetted through our free pet clinic 🐈

371 cats are either still looking for rescue or had other outcomes 🐾

We are so proud of the work we were able to do in 2025 and look forward to seeing what we can do in 2026! 🧡

Before we begin our 2026 work, we wanted to take a moment to thank the rescue partners that stepped up for our cats throughout 2025!

Our mission of getting friendly cats off of the streets and into safe indoor placements would not be possible without the rescues that are willing to intake our cats.

In 2025, we were able to place 1,883 cats & kittens indoors that otherwise would have had to be released. That’s 1,883 friendly cats that will never have to suffer the elements and cruelty of the outdoors again.

We are so appreciative of our rescue partners and are so grateful for their support of our mission 🧡

Thank you to the below rescues who made our 2025 a huge success!

As we close out this year, we want to pause and reflect on outside cats—the very reason The Cat Collaborative was created.

The life of an outdoor cat is not a kind one. They face relentless threats: sweltering summer days with no water, bitter cold nights with little food or warmth, and constant danger simply trying to survive. These cats live at the mercy of humans, and far too often, they are overlooked.

The single most important thing we can do for outside cats is get them fixed. Spay and neuter saves lives, prevents unimaginable suffering, and is the only humane way to stop the endless cycle of overpopulation.

When a cat is friendly, we ask that you please do everything in your power to help them find rescue and a loving home. Friendly cats living outside were failed once already by humans. Many of us now have the opportunity to help make up for that first failure. It may take a little more effort—but the outcome is always worth it.

For cats who are truly feral, compassion looks different—but it matters just as much. Providing safe outdoor shelters, along with consistent food and fresh water, can mean the difference between life and death. This is the very least we can do for beings who endure so much with no voice of their own.

That’s why we are so incredibly proud of our community shelter-building workshops. Each year, these workshops bring people together to take real, hands-on action for outside cats. Using shelter designs we have refined over the past four years, our community came together this year to build 250 outdoor shelters—all but the final four have already been distributed.

While we are grateful knowing hundreds of cats now have warmth and protection, our hearts ache for the many who still don’t. The need is far greater than what we can meet alone.

As we head into 2026, we know we must host another shelter-building workshop—but we can’t do it without help. We are looking for volunteers willing to step up and help lead or support the next workshop. If you’ve been searching for a meaningful New Year’s resolution, this could be it: getting involved in a way that directly saves lives in your community.

We need people who care. We need people who are willing to show up. Outside cats are counting on us.

Let’s make 2026 the year Philadelphia becomes a better, safer place for cats. 🐾

Over the past five years, The Cat Collaborative (TCC) has grown into a powerful force in the fight against cat overpopulation in Philadelphia. What began with a focused mission to sterilize cats living outdoors has evolved through real-world results. Along the way, we discovered a critical missing link: owned cats in families who desperately wanted to do the right thing but simply couldn’t afford even low-cost spay/neuter services. For these households, “low-cost” still wasn’t accessible. What they needed was completely free sterilization, transportation to and from clinics, and often even basic supplies like carriers. Once we removed all of those barriers, the impact was undeniable—because far too many kittens born to unsterilized pets were being given away unfixed or put outside, both of which directly fuel the very overpopulation crisis we’re working so hard to solve.

Since 2023, when the Owned Pet Clinic program was officially launched, TCC has provided sterilization, vaccinations and flea treatment to 5,624 pet cats at NO cost to their owners. A portion of this program’s sustainability was made possible through a grant from Petsmart Charities awarded based on a proposal that outlined a partnership between The Cat Collaborative and The Bridge Clinic. The grant was issued to The Bridge Clinic with the understanding that, each year, a designated portion of those funds would be distributed to TCC to support our Owned Pet Clinic program.

Despite the overwhelming success and proven impact of these Owned Pet Clinics, The Bridge Clinic ultimately declined to distribute the final portion of the funding to TCC. The funding was withdrawn without warning or explanation. We are deeply disappointed and saddened that the value of supporting the communities we serve was not recognized. However, our commitment to that mission has not wavered. The need is real, the impact is measurable, and we remain fully dedicated to ensuring that financial hardship is not the reason a cat contributes to the cycle of overpopulation.

Today, we are asking our community to help us fill the funding gap that has been created. Just $60 covers one complete sterilization package for a pet owner who wants to do the right thing but simply cannot afford to do so. One surgery prevents countless future litters, keeps cats out of shelters and off the streets, and creates lasting change where it matters most. This work is proven, it is effective, and it is urgently needed. With your support, we can continue stopping the cycle at its source—one cat, one family, and one community at a time. 💙🐾

As we come to the end of another year we have an exciting milestone to share!

Paul Ge**er, our steady hand in North Philly, officially became part of our 1,000 club!🧡

Paul has been a dedicated volunteer for TCC since our launch and was out trapping cats before TCC was actually formed!

Paul was working in North Philly (we wont say how many years ago 😉) and noticed cats outside struggling every day. Slowly, Paul started looking for ways that he could help. He saw a problem, rolled up his sleeves, and got involved in solving it. 👏

Paul is well known in TCC for his elaborate planning and attention to detail. He loves to have a solid plan mapped out and see it executed well. Unfortunately for Paul, in cat rescue, that is almost never the way, however, Paul continues to remain dedicated and always striving to do the best job he can.

One of our favorite Paul stories is his namesake Pauline. Paul found poor Pauline many months ago eating from a trash can, noticeably thin, while he was driving back from one of his normal trapping spots. Pauline was thrilled at his offer of canned food and quickly was whisked away with him.
Pauline was so severely malnourished that for nearly a month she was unable to move her bowels on her own. If Paul hadn't been in the right place at the right time, who knows what would have happened to this sweet girl. Thankfully he was, took action, & Pauline is now healthy, happy and forever safe from struggling like that again.

Saves like this are what get TCC trappers through some of the pain and difficulty of being involved in animal welfare. Trappers find cats in some of the worst conditions we’ve ever seen and try to give them a better outcome.

Thank you to Paul for being part of this group and staying steady to hit this awesome milestone!

Welcome to TCC’s 1,000 cat club! 😻🧡

We had another successful shelter building workshop this weekend! We had a great turn out for both events and it was amazing to see our community come together for the cats 🧡

Between our 2 workshops this year, we managed to make 250 shelters for homeless cats to keep warm this winter! ❄️

We want to extend our appreciation to everyone who helped make this year’s shelter building a success: whether you came and helped build, donated supplies, shared our event to get more people here - it all came together so well and will truly help the cats who need it most!

*After our last workshop, we received a lot of messages about people wanting shelters. Because we had so many people come in person to both events, we only have a small number of shelters left to give away. To inquire about picking up shelters, please email [email protected] and wait for a confirmation reply that we have what you need left and we can arrange pick up for today or tomorrow! Due to the heavy winds, pick up will need to be when someone is on site since the shelters are being kept inside our facility*

We wanted to extend a huge thank you to for donating 8 boxes of sterilite totes for this weekend’s shelter building workshop!

The much needed supplkes are essential to the success of our event and we’re so grateful to them for ensuring we have what we need to help keep kitties warm this winter! ❄️🧡

Giving Tuesday— a day to celebrate our community and to make a difference by getting involved. The Cat Collaborative works year-round to give cats in Philadelphia a better quality of life, which means going above and beyond the normal scope of care for a TNR clinic, giving cats medical, dental, and preventative care in addition to sterilization. Our approach is community-based, and we would love to strengthen our community bonds by including you in the important work that we do for the welfare of our local cats. Please consider donating online today through our website (thecatcollaborative.org), or ask us how to become part of our network of dedicated volunteers serving cats, kittens, and each other.
Thank you and Happy Pawlidays!
