Tonight I went to Harajuku specifically to check out the @mofusand_official merchandise at KiddyLand. I had to shorten this video in order to fit the instagram reel, so if you’d like to see the whole video including the inside of the store, you’ll have to head over to TikTok!
I’m not really into a lot of characters or collectibles but if you know me, my two favorite things are cats and sharks. I first learned about Mofusand in the states, and when I moved to Japan I started seeing merch with him on it everywhere!! It’s overwhelming because I want it all 😭
This store has several floors (I think 5 including the basement level) but like most Tokyo shops it’s small and cramped, and it was VERY busy, but I did my best to check out as much as I could.

Come with me to a rescue cat cafe in Shinagawa, Tokyo called @catcafe_meooow 💓
Being a longtime cat rescuer, I’m not sure if I’m totally on board with your “typical” Japanese cat cafes which tend to display cats who live full time in the cafe, and are usually purebred and purchased from breeders. These cafes are there to make a profit and they’re usually colorful, themed, and sell food and drinks. On the other hand, a few cat cafes exist which house adoptable rescue cats. When you purchase a ticket to these cafes, you’re helping support these cats who otherwise would be homeless. You also get the opportunity to meet cats who are all looking for their forever homes!
Because Meooow is a small space, they allow 8 reservations per hour. I recommend booking ahead of time just to make sure there’s a spot for you when you get there! The booking fee was only ¥1000, or currently less than $7. When you enter the cafe you’re asked to take your shoes off and put on slippers. They’ll hand you a card to read about the rules (English available), you’ll sign a waiver, then you’re asked to wash your hands. Then, it’s cat time!
My favorite part was when the staff handed everyone some treats to feed the cats. All of the cats, even the ones who were sleeping, immediately perked up so they didn’t miss a snack! All of the cats seemed to get along well. There were 3 kittens, too!
Meooow is a small cafe tucked away on a residential block, but still within walking distance of bars and shops so you still have something to do before or after hanging out with the kitties!
Meooow is a little far from my apartment so I don’t think I’ll be a regular, but I will absolutely visit again in the future! I recommend adding a stop to Meooow on your Japan itinerary 💓

So my internet hasn’t been working for like a week. Today was the earliest @comcast @xfinity could send out a technician after all of the phone and online troubleshooting didn’t work. The technician was super nice and the cats/kittens were very interested in what he was up to. Thankfully after about an hour of troubleshooting he was able to fix the problem and I finally have internet again!!

RIP Acadia ♥️
When I found Acadia, she was dirty and very underweight. She was all alone. I thought I was doing a good thing by rescuing her. She was cold and starving. Maybe there was a reason she was all alone; maybe her mom abandoned her. She was never normal. She was weak but she was also starved. I gave her the standard intake protocol (pyrantel, ponazuril, revolution, and a bath due to fleas). I figured she just needed time to gain strength. She never had diarrhea or vomiting, but her appetite was waning. I started by trying different foods and high calorie supplements. When I noticed she was losing weight instead of gaining, I became concerned.
Due to the pending holiday, which made vet care difficult to access and made my work schedule 10x busier, I had no choice but to take her to the ER for evaluation. She had a panleuk test which was negative. They recommended I continue what I was doing support wise and added on antibiotics, fluids and antinausea medication. She was tolerating syringe feeding so I continued that. I was mixing up a high calorie slurry for her. Sunday night she had soiled herself so I gave her a “butt bath”, thoroughly dried her and gave her a fresh warming disc. She was still vocal and eating on her own here and there. I fed her every few hours until 2:30am when I settled in for bed, and around 6am I woke up to check on her and found her deceased in her pen.
I needed time to process this before I made a post. I feel like a failure. I feel like maybe I shouldn’t have taken her home. Why did I have to find her? Why didn’t the people who found her before me help her instead? It’s possible she had a congenital problem, or that she was exposed to or ingested something during her time outside which made her decline. I’ll never know what happened. I think I did all that I could. I know what I can handle and I know when I need to seek veterinary care (for those who asked why I didn’t go to the vet - I did).

Alright y’all… welcome a new baby! A calico girl who needs a name 😹😹
I was at my last cat sitting appointment of the evening when I walked out the door to head home and I thought I heard a kitten meowing. I walked a few steps up the block and saw this kitten poke its head out of the wheel well! At first I thought the kitten would be friendly and I could just reach in and grab her, but as I approached she retreated further under the car. I went back into my client’s house and grabbed a can of cat food. I put some inside the tire, and the kitten popped back out and started eating! I thought she was in a position where I could grab her, but when I tried again she hissed and swatted and retreated!
I called my friend @_han_fran because I thought I’d need help or some brainstorming to get the kitten. She and her husband kindly dropped what they were doing and headed my direction, but right before I got there they was able to grab the kitten and pull her out!
I’d made such a commotion that I’d attracted the neighbors, and they gave me the green blanket to wrap her in.
The neighbors also told me the kitten had been stuck under the car at least since yesterday morning, and they hadn’t seen any other cats or kittens.
Hannah also stopped and grabbed a couple cans of kitten food and @inaba_churu on her way to meet me, and while we were in the car on the way home the baby devoured her first Churu!!
I just set her up in a pen to decompress and gave her more food. She’s going to need a bath later because she’s absolutely filthy, but otherwise she looks healthy 💕
Now… what should we name her?!

Thank you everyone for the words of support yesterday. I’m still struggling, but what other choice do I have than to keep caring for the kitten crew, so here I am.
Some of the kittens are still having diarrhea, and I’m going through so much food and litter. I’m likely going to have to postpone surgery for a couple of them.
I might not have them all adopted by surgery because I can’t find the motivation to get through the applications. So if anyone would like to sponsor a surgery, please let me know. Their surgeries are $125 each.

Is it really kitten season if don’t have a litter of kittens in your bathtub?!
So I jumped the gun and of course these kittens won’t eat on their own. So in addition to feeding Parker I’m syringe feeding these kittens and trying to get them to understand that they can indeed eat independently. The two brown and white tabbies are girls and the two orange are boys. Haven’t had the time to even think of names.
Parker did really well the rest of the night into today, and she’s drinking milk by herself. I’m hoping she continues to improve 🙏
Oh and then there’s me- I woke up this morning with a horrific phlegmy cough and have been nauseous all day. I’m so tired and just want to sleep for hours but I can’t 😩

Some people have asked what a typical day in my life as a cat sitter looks like. I wouldn’t say this was the most typical as I don’t have to take cats to the vet every day, but at least I thought this snapshot into my routine was interesting (I hope). What’s missing are my 1-2 caffeine breaks, a couple visits I forgot to get footage of, and me demolishing the free meal I get from the restaurant 🤣
Also sorry the music drowns out my voiceover toward the middle, I didn’t realize the song got louder and I don’t know how to edit a TikTok 🤣
