Meet the pet of the month for January. Charlie is a seven-year-old mixed breed. He loves his agility lessons, soft beds, warm blankets, and wearing bowties. When he’s not on the agility course or snoozing in a patch of sun, he enjoys Philadelphia’s outdoor dining scene and visiting the local pet stores. His favorite snacks are chicken hearts, cheese, and Pupcakes from Amelie’s Bark Shop.

Newt is our exotic pet of the month for January. Hi there, My name’s Newt! I think I’m about 6 years old. My mom is a superhero for sick turtles—she rescued me from a teeny-tiny tank that was way overcrowded. The other turtles weren’t very nice... they even nibbled on my toes! Now I have these funny, curly nails as a souvenir.

Life is so much better now! I have awesome turtle friends, I LOVE people, and playing is my absolute favorite. My top hobbies? Chasing laser pointers, soaking up head scratches, and devouring greens. Seriously, I could eat greens all day long.

Recently, I became friends with the amazing folks at Center City Vet! They’ve taken great care of me after one of my more... adventurous moments. You see, I figured out how to escape my tank (clever, right?), but I had a rough landing and hid under the fridge because it was so cozy. When my mom found me, I inhaled a bunch of water and ended up with pneumonia. Don’t worry—my mom and dad have me on turtle lockdown now with child safety straps all around my tank.

Thanks for learning about me, and a HUGE thanks to Center City Vet for helping me feel my best! You guys rock! 🐢

NOT SO) FUN FACT: Did you know that more pets visit the veterinarian for stomach upset the day after Thanksgiving than any other day of the year?
There are plenty of safe and healthy ways to enjoy the Thanksgiving festivities with our fur family, but all too often, a turkey skin or buttery dollop of mashed potatoes find their way into the wrong food bowl.
We recommend insuring your fuzzy loved ones before problems arise, so you can focus on getting them the best care ‘pawsible’.
Pet insurance policies have waiting periods that will vary by company. One pet insurance company, Pumpkin, has a 14 day waiting period for eligible accidents/illnesses, so act now to have coverage by Turkey Day!

Meet our exotic pet of the month for November -
Hughes is a soft and shy little guy that will come running at the smell of bananas. He loves sitting for pets, getting his ears rubbed, and snacking on greens. When Hughes isn’t napping, you can find him running through his tunnel toy and digging around in his enrichment box for, you guessed it, his banana treats! 💚
