Our Story
Street Tails Animal Rescue (STAR) began in 2001 as a humble one-woman effort led by Lindsay Condefer. From her pet store, The Chic Petique, Lindsay poured her heart and soul into rescuing dogs and finding them loving homes. In 2010, with the steadfast support of friends, supporters, and a dedicated board of directors, Lindsay's vision expanded. Street Tails Animal Rescue transitioned to

its own dedicated location, a testament to its commitment to making a difference in the lives of homeless and abandoned dogs in the Philadelphia area. Our Unique Approach
What sets Street Tails Animal Rescue apart is our distinctive approach, powered by just two full-time staff members. While many larger organizations boast extensive teams, our small but mighty team oversees every aspect of our rescue operation. From fundraising and social media outreach to the hands-on care of each and every dog that enters our doors, our dedicated staff ensures that every animal receives the attention, love, and support they need to thrive. This Christmas, we’re celebrating the true magic of second chances, unconditional love, and the incredible families who make it all possible. 🌟🎄

Sprout and Foxy (formerly Catherine Zeta-Bones) have both been settling into their forever homes over the past few months, and it’s been nothing short of magical to watch. From sunny adventures to cozy nights in, these two pups are living their best lives, surrounded by love and care every step of the way.

Sprout has been thriving with her family, going on fun outings and enjoying all the love they shower on her. Despite her heart condition, she’s soaking up every moment of happiness, and it’s clear she’s found her perfect match.

Foxy, who faces her own heart condition, has also found her forever family, and they’re making sure she has the best life possible. While she won’t be a candidate to have surgery, her family ensures she’s living her best life, with all the love and adventures.

We are so incredibly thankful for the families who have stepped up to care for these special pups, giving them the love and adventure they deserve. This Christmas, we’re reminded that the greatest gifts are the ones that come from the heart — and Sprout and Foxy have truly found theirs. 💖

‘Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the rescue, not a creature was stirring, not even sweet Blair, for she’s found her forever home, and is happy there, leaving room for more pups, with hopes they’ll find love to share.

The stockings were hung by the kennels with care, in hopes that forever homes soon would be there. Our fosters were nestled, snug with their pups, dreaming of belly rubs, treats, and love-filled cups.

And as we pause to reflect on this special night, we thank you all for helping our mission take flight.

At Street Tails, we’re a small but mighty team—just two staff members supported by a devoted family of fosters, board members, and volunteers. With only 9 kennel spaces, every adoption matters because it opens the door for us to save another life.

Right now, 9 dogs are in trial adoptions, and we’re holding our breath, hoping they all stick. But we also have two very special pups who urgently need homes:

✨ Queenie: After nearly two years in our care, Queenie hasn’t received much interest. Her incredible foster dad has to travel the 2nd week in January, so Queenie will be moving back to the rescue’s kennels if we don’t find her a family. This makes it crucial that we keep space open for her, but what she really needs is a forever home.

✨ Rolo: Our lovable short king has a meet tomorrow, but if it doesn’t work out, he’ll still be waiting for his miracle.

We don’t have the resources of a large organization, and we don’t believe in using boarding kennels if an adoption doesn’t work out and one of our foster families aren’t available. We owe it to these dogs to provide the care and oversight they deserve. That’s why finding homes for Queenie and Rolo is so important—not just for them, but for the dogs still waiting to be rescued.

Enzo quite literally wobbled his way into his fosters heart, proving once again that sometimes the perfect match is already right in front of us. 🏡 Enzo may have had a rocky road to start, but with his foster mom’s love and care, he blossomed into the happy, playful pup we all adore. Along the way, she realized she couldn’t imagine life without his goofy charm, sweet snuggles, and endless determination. This reminds us that sometimes the best matches aren’t found — they grow, one belly rub and cuddle at a time. 🐾✨

Walter, who we believe to be a Bouvier mix (DNA test pending), is a dog with traits deeply tied to his breed’s working nature. Dogs like Walter thrive in environments where their instincts are respected and supported through patience, leadership, and structure. But for now, Walter’s behaviors—rooted in fear and uncertainty—require professional guidance to help him feel safe and confident.

Earlier this week, Walter had an appointment with the behavioral team at Mount Laurel. This was a crucial step in understanding how we can set him up for success and, eventually, place him in the right home—one where his nature is appreciated and his growth celebrated. But behavioral care like this, paired with the training he’ll need, comes at a cost.
