Hey guys, MaKayla here. Just a little update on Kari & the new addition.
It is with heavy heart and much contemplation that Kari will not be trimming. Dustin WILL still be trimming but no more than an hour away from Puckett, MS just so he can be close if Kari needs any help. Tuesday she was put on bed rest and was told to stay put. As of today she is 38 weeks & 4 days. Kari goes in next Tuesday to be induced to welcome baby Octavia Rayne into the world unless she comes before then. Kari prides herself in working until she can’t anymore, but she chose to not put her nor Octavia in harms way. Many goats can be unpredictable or just be knotheads one day and a bump to the tummy isn’t something she can take. I will post below a post from her to each and everyone of you. She is ready to get back, I can tell, but she’s preparing for a new adventure and being a first time momma to a baby girl.
•ANNOUNCEMENT FROM KARI:
Unfortunately, I have reached my limit everyone. I have prided myself on continuing to work as long as I have through this pregnancy, but with my induction date of May 13th rapidly approaching, at this point I feel it is best if I stop. Riding in the truck more than 30 minutes at a time now requires me to stop and stretch, every bump in the road sets off Braxton Hicks contractions and makes me miserable. Some days I can drive 2 hours and some days I cant even ride 10 minutes to the store without hurting. And I never know what kind of day its gonna be until I get in the truck.
I cant bend, lift, or be on my feet for long periods or my feet swell so bad I can hardly walk. Apparently I have a form of carpal tunnel in my wrists that the docs say SHOULD go away once the baby is born, but not to push my luck if I dont have to.
Sleeping is becoming near impossible for me for more than 30 minutes at a time, and I am exhausted all the time.
Dustin Bryant WILL STILL BE WORKING AND ABLE TO TRIM!! EFFECTIVE MAY 5th!!
I WILL STILL BE AVAILABLE to answer questions via text at 601-467-9567. I will still be available to come assist for emergency situations (such as helping pull stuck kids, broken leg, toxin ingestion, etc).
I am sorry for the inconvenience, but Dustin is just as good as I am with both maintenance and corrective trimming and basic health concerns (copper deficiency, lice treatment, etc). He just usually lets me do the talking, haha! We have an easily portable trimming stand, so all Dustin will need is someone there to help catch goats!
This is something I dont want to do, but for my health, comfort and sanity, as well as Octavia’s safety, it has to happen. Octavia is so big now that you can FEEL AND SEE the curve of her entire body on my belly. She is laying forward and you can run your finger all the way from her shoulder to her butt down her spine. If I get kicked in the belly by a goat right now, it could potentially hurt her and my reflexes are not what they normally are.
We are also not taking new clients at this time. Our established clients are very numerous and many have been with us for years. While we are adjusting to life with a newborn, we want to make sure that the clients and herds who have been loyal to us for so long are taken care of and do not fall behind schedule!
I would like to thank everyone in advance for their patience and understanding! We are praying for a smooth and uncomplicated birth so that I can heal and get back to work in a timely manner!
