Pet Diabetes Awareness 🐾🩺

Did you know? November is Pet Diabetes Awareness Month! Here are some important facts to keep your furry friends healthy:

🔹 Diabetes in pets is more common than you think, affecting 1 in every 300 dogs and 1 in every 230 cats.
🔹 Symptoms to watch for: increased thirst, frequent urination, weight loss despite a good appetite, and lethargy.
🔹 Early detection is key! With proper management, including insulin therapy, a healthy diet, and regular vet visits, diabetic pets can lead happy lives.
🔹 Pets are more likely to develop diabetes if they’re overweight, older, or have a genetic predisposition.

If you notice any of these signs, schedule a check-up with your vet right away!

Happy Practice Manager Appreciation Week! 🎉

This week, we celebrate the amazing veterinary practice managers who keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes. 🐾 From supporting teams to ensuring pets get the best care possible, their dedication and leadership make a world of difference.

We especially want to celebrate and thank OUR Practice Manager, Maya! We have gone though A LOT of changes in the last year and Maya has handled everything thrown at her with grace and humor. She has managed to navigate the changes while continuing to support and empower our staff- not just as employees, but most importantly- as human beings. We are SO thankful to have Maya as the captain of this ship!

Thank you for all you do to keep our clinics thriving and pets healthy! 💙🐶🐱

Our Story

Society Hill Veterinary Hospital is a full-service, modern animal hospital dedicated to providing pet owners of Philadelphia with access to the best that modern veterinary care has to offer. Our hospital has been located on the corner of Second and Lombard Streets since 1969 and owned by Claudia L. Casavecchia, DVM, since 2002. In 2010, the facility was completely renovated in order to better serve our patients and clients as well as to support our doctors with cutting edge technologies and resources. These include enhanced inpatient and outpatient treatment areas, state-of-the-art surgery and dental care suites, and a well-equipped intensive care unit for critically ill patients. The basis of our model of care is the compassionate application of preventative care. As medical professionals, we understand that if we are to live up to our deepest desire to provide your pet with the best care possible, we must preserve his or her health and well-being. We also understand that our knowledge is of little use if we do not share it with you. If we are to effectively promote responsible pet ownership and excellent home care, then we have to be very good at communication and client education. We invite you to visit our website to learn more about how Society Hill Veterinary Hospital can help you preserve the well-being of your beloved animal companions. Then please give us a call at (215) 627-5955 to set up an appointment or talk to one of our client care specialists.
