Gino is an incredibly sweet cat who is fearless—as long as there are snacks or pets involved. Otherwise? He is deeply, profoundly afraid of… well, everything. Things that move. Things that make noise. Things that might one day move or make noise. A chair that’s been in the same spot for weeks but could have sinister plans. You get the idea. Despite this, Gino is a brave little dude at heart. His love for pets and snacks is so strong that he will put aside his terror and channel his inner lion—briefly—before returning to his regularly scheduled program of being spooked by inanimate objects. Playing with toys? A concept he has yet to fully grasp. A feather wand? Terrifying. A jingly ball? Suspicious. A string toy dangled too enthusiastically? Absolutely not.

Gino loves to be near you, ideally in situations where you are unable to escape, such as when you’re on the toilet. This is prime cuddle time. He is still learning about laps—currently, they are a little scary—but given his track record of snack-fueled bravery, we believe he will conquer them soon.

Gino would do well in a quiet home, either as a solo prince or with another gentle, low-energy cat who respects his cautious and socially awkward approach to friendship. He is also devastatingly handsome. His chubby cheeks are the stuff of legend. He has one white whisker, a feature so striking it defies photography.

A few nights ago, a community caretaker alerted us about a cat (we named Ralph Robinson) suffering from severe mange. After seeing his condition in a photo, our volunteer had her immediately bring him to us. The next morning, we took Ralph to an emergency vet, where he received treatment, including Revolution (which he’ll need every two weeks for six weeks), fluids, a Convenia shot, eye & ear medication, and a rabies vaccine. Thankfully, he tested negative for FeLV, which gives him a better chance of recovery.

Ralph is semi-feral, making treatment challenging, but we’re committed to helping him heal. He’ll need ongoing eye and ear medications and pain management to make him feel more comfortable, and less anxious. We’re grateful to have rescued him from the streets, as his vision is so poor he could barely find food let alone defend himself from others. We will keep you updated on Ralph’s condition. We can’t wait to see his glow up! In the meantime, please consider making a donation towards his emergent care and ongoing treatments. Any amount is so appreciated. Thank you for your support!

Please meet Benson Frazier. He is part of our fundraising effort asking our fans to name cats that we bring in. Benson was trapped, neutered and had an abscess on his front paw which we had drained and cleaned and he received a long acting antibiotic. He's doing much better now!

🚨 Now is the time to spay & neuter! 🚨

Two kittens were found by a local caretaker, who contacted us for help, so they were promptly scooped up and brought indoors. The kittens are around 4-5 months old and if one or both are female, they could already be pregnant at this age. Let us say that one more time.. 4 month old kittens can get pregnant! Think about how hard that would be on those tiny bodies, not to mention the trauma of the mating process. These two have been transferred to a local rescue partner where they will be fully vetted and put up for adoption. Meanwhile, we are looking for their mom (& dad!) to stop the cycle asap! Nibbler is tired of a very cold and snowy winter at the Vermont Outpost. He can’t wait for warmer weather so he can hang out on the porch and lie in wait for the Amazon delivery man.

Sometimes, despite our best intentions, we aren't able to save every cat that comes into rescue. 💔

A caretaker called one of our volunteers early one morning; she heard a cat crying across the street and requested our help. This cat who we named Haven had a collar and presumably had a home at one time, but now she was in bad shape. This senior gal was horribly thin, had tremors in her limbs and head, and would sway when attempting to walk. Her front leg also looked to be broken. Haven did not resist when picked up and put gently into a carrier, and we rushed her to the emergency vet. Sadly, it wasn’t good news. Due to severity of disease and concerning neurologic symptoms, the vets weren’t sure she would even survive the day, so instead of suffering anymore, she was humanely euthanized. We are thankful that Haven did not pass all alone on the streets, but was surrounded by love in her final moments of life.

With Haven’s emergency vet visit, we ask that you consider making a donation to her care in her memory, or in the loving memory of a pet who has passed away and help us give thanks for the love and happiness they bring into our lives. Howard Aspen is a sweet and endearing guy who is a bit shy, and will require a little patience and time on your part for him to really blossom! He has a calming presence and loves head rubs, Greenie treats and watching birds. Howard would be ideal for a quieter family with older kids and a feline buddy. This handsome tabby with the expressive eyes is around 2 years old, fully vetted and ready for adoption!

This cutie is 2 year old Donna Delancey. When she was first rescued, we noticed that that she was a very noisy breather (see videos in comments!), and after a quick vet visit, she was treated with an upper respiratory infection. Unfortunately, it didn’t do much to help her breathing. After further veterinary care, it was found that she has a narrowed nasal passage (pharyngeal stenosis), so she mostly breathes through my mouth. Even after two surgeries to attempt to repair the issue, she continues to be snorty and it may be something she has to live with. But, it certainly doesn’t deter her from enjoying life!! Donna is very playful and loves toys, cat trees, window watching and cuddles from her foster humans. She is also being fostered with a dog and two cats. Donna is ready for her forever home, snorts and all!

I am utterly mortified. My servants gave me a stocking filled with toys and treats, BUT only if I agreed to this ridiculous photo op. Don’t worry.. their reckoning is coming (after I get my stocking, obvs). Oh, and Happy St. Patrick’s Day or whatever. ☘️
