💙✨ February is Heart Health Month! ✨💙

This month, we’re raising awareness about cardiac health in exotic companion mammals! Just like cats and dogs, rabbits, ferrets, and even guinea pigs can also suffer from serious cardiovascular conditions.

Common signs of heart disease in exotic mammals:
❤️ Lethargy or weakness
💨 Increased respiratory effort or rate
🍽️ Decreased appetite or weight loss
🩺 Abnormal heart sounds or murmurs detected during veterinary exams

Early detection is key to managing heart disease! Routine veterinary check-ups, imaging (such as radiographs and echocardiograms), and proper diet and exercise can help keep our exotic patients’ hearts healthy.

Throughout February, we’ll be sharing veterinary insights on diagnosing and managing cardiac disease in small exotic mammals. Stay tuned! 🐰🐹🦔🐾

🌟 RABBIT HUSBANDRY 101 🐇💚

At 2nd Street Animal Hospital & Exotic Clinic, we know that rabbits are more than just pets—they're part of the family! 🏡✨ Proper husbandry is essential to keeping your bunny happy and healthy. Here are some key tips:

🌱 Diet is Everything
Provide unlimited fresh hay (like Timothy or orchard grass), a variety of leafy greens, and a small amount of high-quality rabbit pellets. Always have fresh water available!

🏡 A Comfortable Home
Ensure your rabbit’s living space is spacious, clean, and lined with soft bedding. They need room to hop, stretch, and explore! 🏠

🐇 Enrichment and Exercise
Rabbits are curious and active creatures! Provide toys for chewing, tunnels for exploring, and daily supervised playtime outside their enclosure.

🩺 Regular Checkups
Rabbits are masters at hiding illness. Schedule regular wellness visits with Dr. Bender, our exotic animal expert, to keep your bunny in top shape!

❄️ Temperature Control
Rabbits are sensitive to heat—keep their environment cool, especially in warmer months.

💡 Have questions about your bunny’s care? Or need to schedule a wellness check? Call us today at 📞 215-516-7000. Let’s give your rabbit the happy, healthy life they deserve! 🐾💖
