We’ve been advocating for improvements at MCACC for years-through emails, meetings, media, petitions, and public comments. Many others have done the same. The concerns we raise aren’t new, and they’re not personal attacks. They are calls for transparency, accountability, and meaningful change in how this shelter operates.
MCACC’s recent post focuses on how difficult shelter work is-and yes, we know it is. But this type of messaging deflects from the real issue: animals are suffering because of systemic failures, not because the public isn’t being “supportive” enough online.
Let’s be clear:
Criticism isn’t cruelty. It’s community advocacy.
Accountability isn’t negativity. It’s what any taxpayer-funded institution should welcome.
Fostering and adopting alone won't fix broken leadership, lack of transparency, or poor internal practices.
Saying “stop do**in’ us” and redirecting us to a contact form we’ve already used many times before is dismissive. Real community engagement doesn’t silence criticism—it invites it. It learns from it. It grows because of it.
If MCACC truly wants to build a supportive community, it starts with listening. Not spinning. Not deflecting. And not gaslighting those who are fighting to make things better.
We’re not here for drama. We’re here because hundreds of animals are still waiting—and the public deserves honest answers and responsible leadership.https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1A7VsDyP6Q/
Shelter life isn't easy. It's stressful, emotionally tasking, and difficult for everyone involved. It takes a village to provide food, water and enrichment for hundreds of homeless pets every day, and we need your help to keep adoption numbers up so more dogs are out of the shelter and in forever homes.
We've read your comments about the negativity in the comment section, and we want to emphasize - we want to make this page about building a supportive community of animal lovers, not personal attacks. So, please stop do**in' us! We want people to continue to foster and adopt dogs from MCACC. There are hundreds of dogs right now who have been waiting for a home, some for over 100 days.
