Do you want your dog to be this relaible if/when an "oopsie" moment occurs?!?!
This is why I recommend teaching "Brace" and similar - FUN - body contact games. Want to learn how? The Level 1 Calendar Cues Program teaches this cue and so many other wonder ones to get you started!
We have had great feedback so far with the over 6hours of teaching material you'll be getting in this 30day/30 lesson course...plus the free training journal download, several handouts to guide you and a lot of written materials as well to help guide you through the exercises!
The course is only $60 - that's just $2/day to get 30 dog training lessons that will start to help set your dog up for success in life!
Video Disclaimer: I had other dogs on my lap and knew if I moved to get up, all would jump and the baby might go flying if Timeless Ranger got up in excitement to join them while the baby was near him. Dad was coming over to intervene and right there, but I had him wait and started to record because we have worked on things for this very reason: the oopsie moment when maybe we are distracted and the moons align for mischief!
Just watch as Timeless Ranger never stops chewing his bone and is completely unperturbed BECAUSE he has been proofed so much as a puppy - and adult still in occasion - for SD work - so no possession issues, no body contact issues, and a GREAT dog for this family with smaller kids.
Note: We do NOT advocate EVER just allowing kids to do this, be unsupervised, and crawl all over dogs... but I did want to record why we proof the dog for this very reason. We are now also teaching the child moving forward. Timeless Ranger has also been taught "Away Behaviors" when/if he DOES get bothered by something, so he would've gotten up and walked away as well.
If you show your dog the pictures they may need to see later in life and that if they tolerate the weirdness, they get tasty things, amazing toys/play and have an understanding of what to do (get up and go away f
Want your dogs to behave in public, by busy streets, without the need for remotes ...or even collars? I can help you develop a training relationship that doesn't need special equipment using rewards that YOU ALREADY GIVE!
Look closely at what equipment I use with my dogs...
My Calendar Cues 30day/30lesson program is still on sale through July 31st! Enroll today and start in the next cohort on Aug 6th...

Vet Tech Services Day at Paws In - New Berlin! C'mon Out!
This is how WE do a 5-dog outside during fireworks PAWTY! :) No, you don't start here...but you CAN help them get comfortable, even if in the house, with knowing they're safe, so here is also what I do inside the house for Boom-Boom-Booms (my cue). Again, we start in baby steps, but you CAN help your pet feel safe and learn that the world is not ending. I can help you get there.

Emerald Eire Dobermanns Timeless Ranger had a quick vet visit today and we wanted to share how this boy has gone from scale avoidance to scale confidence! He is a proud 81.5lbs and happy vet visit boy in his Forever Home!
(Don't mind his somewhat small leopard coat. I always prep and maintain "weird things" (like wearing a shirt, coat, etc) for future things like a Holter monitor for health clearances, or a body suit if ever need be, etc.
I'd rather have them wear lower cost items just in case before ever wearing a higher cost items. :-)
Even though Ranger has already done his Holter (fabulously normal) and wears shirts and stuff, MAINTAINING the "normalcy" of doing so and rewarding all the amazing behaviors/cue he does wearing them is also important. For every dog.
So, today's training tips are:
1) Cookie Visits (happy rewards, awesome chews, amazing play items) help your pet IMMENSELY to build amazingly good versus bad ratios. Practice the scale for tasty snacks, having techs and staff toss tasty snacks with no contact, and then leave. Each visit you can build in more stuff as your pet is ready, but not too much so they stay happy versus stressed.
2) Practice having them learn how to HAPPILY put on clothes and take them off. Then, proceed to having them wear longer and longer. Then, going outside. Then going places.
We are heading for a hike on the trails next because I always follow up a vet visit with an AWESOME Sniffari type field trip reward!
Want to learn more or personalize your pet's program? A 60min Phone Consult is all it takes and you'll get a follow up email with video links and awesome info!

Dogs can communicate very effectively IF you teach them how to problem solve a bit AND actually learn how to listen.
I don't see them as adversaries. They're not trying to piss me off or irritate me. They usually do NOT "know better" or they would choose to do better. They do what WORKS. Period.
They communicate their needs as best as they know, based on what has worked in the past. So have CONVERSATIONS instead.
What do YOU see Hazmat ask to do here? I missed the look the first time in real life, but see it on the video. I did catch the look the 2nd time and that's when I asked the question.
TEACH YOUR DOG. It WILL take some patience and consistency...but it will be a LIFETIME of amazingness if you do.
