Today is and we’ve got a short story for you.

👑 Once upon a time in a kingdom far, far away (32nd & Shea to be exact) there was a very special princess dog named Zoey. She’s lived in the shelter for 499 days and counting, waiting for the day her perfect family will come to rescue her. She spends her days frolicking in the yard, admiring the landscape, and bringing smiles to everyone she encounters. But as happy as she is, deep down she’s waiting for her happily ever after.

A PAIR OF PUPDATES!!! 📣

Snowflake - Kinneret (fka Snowflake) is settling into her new home with Mom and Dad. She is a love, very smart, and a quick learner. She loves toys and people and is working on getting to know other dogs. Kinneret enjoyed her first hike up north and is getting used to riding in the car. Her parents had her DNA tested—she is 40% Cattle Dog, 20% German Shepherd, 20% Pit Bull, and 20% super mutt. That makes her 100% fun! 🥳

Winslow – Winslow, who is now known as Murray, is doing great! His family always knows where he is because he loves, loves, loves squeaky toys. He also loves taking running jumps at people, and so he is about to start training classes. He’ll be working hard on his good dog skills 😊

HAPPY GOTCHA DAY, AUGUST!!! 🥳

Three sweet brindle Dutch Shepherd mix puppies were found abandoned in a local dog park on a scorching 115-degree day, left with only a bag of food and no water. Luckily, their luck changed when they were rescued and brought to Home Fur Good, where they received the loving care they desperately needed. Now, we're thrilled to announce that all three puppies have found their forever homes!

The second to be adopted is little August. His new family originally came to the shelter looking for a larger companion for their big German Shepherd (not pictured). However, the moment they saw August, all thoughts of finding an older, bigger dog vanished. While August has the potential to grow into a large dog, right now he’s small enough to run under his big brother, a skill he happily demonstrated during their meet-and-greet. His playful antics delighted his new parents and even amused his new big furbrother.

With plenty of fun and adventure ahead, August has found the perfect home. Congratulations, August, on your wonderful new life!

Some of our adorable dogs and cats, through no fault of their own, end up having an extended stay with Home Fur Good. Others have special needs that require extra attention and care. You can help these wonderful animals as they wait for their forever homes by sponsoring one (or more) of these animals!

By sponsoring, you’ll free up Home Fur Good funds for other needy animals and you help offset costs of medical and dental care that some of our rescue animals require. Your gift is much appreciated and tax-deductible.

IT'S A PUPDATE!!! 📣

We’ve received a wonderful report on one of our longtimers who found her forever home – Fiji!

“Fiji is doing great! And she is staying Fiji 😄 The first couple of weeks were a little stressful, but it was us getting used to her as well as her getting used to us. She is doing great with the kiddos! They all get their zoomies out towards the end of the day. We do kennel her when we are out of the house but let her stay out at night. One night, we were hit hard with a storm, so she needed to be basically on one of us for comfort. She’s only had a couple of accidents in the house, but we figured that would be the case in the beginning. We all love her!”

HAPPY GOTCHA DAY, APRIL!!! 🥳

Three sweet brindle Dutch Shepherd mix puppies were found abandoned in a local dog park on a blistering 115-degree day, left with only a bag of food and no water. Despite this rough start, their fortunes soon changed when they were brought to Home Fur Good, where they received the loving care they always deserved.

We are thrilled to announce that one of these precious pups, little April, has found her forever home! April now has two human siblings to play with and a mom and dad who are eager to shower her with love and provide her with the training she needs to thrive.

April's journey from abandonment to adoption is a true testament to the resilience and spirit of rescue dogs. We couldn't be happier for her as she begins this exciting new chapter of her life. Congratulations, April, on finding the family of your dreams!

We have an extra full cat room and are low on clumping cat litter! If you are able to donate some, our cats and staff would be very grateful. Any brand works!

Your donation can be shipped to Home Fur Good, 10220 N. 32nd Street, Phoenix, AZ 85028. If you would like to drop off donations physically, you can do so at the same address during our hours of operation, from 11 am to 4pm Thursday through Saturday.

Charming has his eye on you to be his furrrrever family!

Charming had his eye removed before arriving to HFG, but he’s still a happy and extremely friendly boy who will crawl right into your lap. He loves to play with string toys and explore nooks and crannies of every room.

HAPPY GOTCHA DAY, CANNOLI!!! 🥳

Cannoli’s new family are true Boxer enthusiasts, and they knew their 4-year-old Boxer needed a companion. When they saw Cannoli’s picture on our website, they were immediately captivated—she looked like a miniature version of their beloved dog! The decision was made, and they eagerly set up a meeting.

When Cannoli first met her soon-to-be big brother in the yard, she was a little hesitant, understandably so with such a large dog resembling her. But her big brother’s gentle nature quickly put her at ease. Bro and his Mini-Me hit it off.

As Mom and Dad finalized the adoption, the two new siblings were already making themselves at home, exploring and bonding in the middle room. Cannoli, now lovingly renamed Esther, is settling into her new life with a family who adores her. We’re thrilled to see her find a forever home where she’ll grow up surrounded by love, both from her humans and her new best fur friend.

Sweet Archer got to take a field trip for lunch at today! He was great in the car and just happy to be along for the ride. He also waited very politely and patiently for everyone to finish eating!

Archer is a 3-month-old Queensland Heeler mix and as you can see, he’s already quite the gentleman! Meet him this Thursday - Saturday from 11am - 4pm.

With school back in session, we decided to put our pups to the test with a puzzle solving pop-quiz. The puppers were all given the same puzzle and timed on their swiftness in extracting the treats. You may be surprised at the speediest solver. …

Allegra, of course, showed off her good girl skills right after she moved her nose through the treat puzzle without any issues. She was awarded a pup cup and sat proudly for it.

Jessica kept wanting to do the treat puzzle, so she did it 3 times. Jessica likes being mentally stimulated and by her third try, she was a puzzle wizard!

Sweet Rhiannon was an efficient puzzle solver. She’s very curious about what’s happening around her but she concentrated on the puzzle and was a star student!

Serena is quick with that squishy nose of hers and can move those puzzle pieces swiftly! She was top of the class and took first place at solving the puzzle in a record-breaking 19 seconds. Way to go, Serena!

Vanessa made quick work of the puzzle and was definitely interested in winning! After her hard work for treats, she got the zoomies and enjoyed recess.

And then there was Coach. He only does the puzzle when it has a certain kind of treat in it. He’s an ace at being a lovebug and we give him an A+ in adorableness!

HAPPY GOTCHA DAY, CROISSANT!!! 🥳

Sometimes, a simple grocery run turns into something much more. That’s exactly what happened when a family went out to grab dog ice cream and came home with a new best friend. Meet Croissant, the lucky little Boxer pup who found his forever family at our Pet Supplies Plus adoption event. As soon as they laid eyes on Croissant, they knew he was the one. Dad, who had been considering the perfect birthday gift, found his answer in this adorable bundle of energy.

Boxers are known for their playful, affectionate nature, and Croissant is no exception. He’s already fitting right in with his new family, which includes two fur siblings, two human siblings, two loving parents, and—who knows—maybe even a partridge in a pear tree! We’re thrilled to see Croissant start this new chapter in his life, full of love, play, and plenty of dog ice cream. Here's to happy endings and new beginnings!

HAPPY GOTCHA DAY, HANS!!! 🥳

Hans has found his forever family! This young family first met Hans a few weeks ago and couldn’t stop thinking about him. When they called to see if he was still available, they were thrilled to hear that he was and rushed over for a second, more intentional meeting. Of course, with Hans being a dorky puppy, “serious” is relative, but they knew this was meant to be.

Adopting a puppy is a big responsibility, but the rewards are more than worth it. Hans, who was once on the euthanasia list due to a skin condition, has healed beautifully—just look at that shiny coat! Now, this handsome pup will enjoy a life full of exercise, playtime, and lots of love. Dad is especially excited about the healthy training relationship he plans to build with Hans, ensuring that this energetic pup grows into a well-behaved companion.

We couldn’t be happier that Hans is now both healthy and happy, and that he’s found a wonderful home where he’ll be cherished. Here's to a lifetime of wagging tails and joyful moments ahead!

A PAIR OF PUPDATES!!! 📣

Rocko - Rocko’s adopter says Rocko is doing great! He is going to training classes at PetSmart and his adopter is helping him with separation anxiety when adopter leaves for work. He has really fit in well.

Filbert - Filbert, now Bravo, is described as an “interesting dog” by his adopter. He likes his new dog siblings (Happy and Angel) and his new people, but he’s a little skittish when his people initiate too much physical contact. It needs to be on his terms for now, and his adopter is fine with that. He has a bounce in his step and doesn’t act like he’s 7.

HAPPY GOTCHA DAY, STERLING!!! 🥳

Sterling has found his forever home! This sweet pup has been adopted by a loving dad who wants his little girl to grow up with a furry companion by her side. His daughter is a huge fan of the show Bluey, so it’s no surprise that Sterling has a new name—Bluey! With his new moniker, Bluey is ready to begin a new life filled with fun and love.

Dad is taking on the important task of training, ensuring Bluey masters both potty training and good behavior. Meanwhile, his daughter has already taken on the role of Bluey’s best friend, promising to give him plenty of exercise, playtime, and all the cuddles he could ever want.

It’s the perfect arrangement—Bluey gets a home where he’ll be loved and cared for, and this family gains a loyal and playful companion. We’re so thrilled for Bluey and his new family, and we know they’re going to make a lifetime of happy memories together!

I have an inherited skin condition called Color Dilation Alopecia which causes me to have dry skin and spots of hair loss (ugh, so embarrassing!). Adopt Ashton!

One of our volunteers had a chance to spend a day with Ashton at an adoption event @az_mypetmarket and she fell head over heels for this pint-sized cutie-pie! “He’s the perfect combination of friendly smart and fun to be around! He’s going to make a wonderful pet!” Ashton is a 6-year-old Chihuahua mix weighing in at a petite 13 pounds. As you can see, he’s mastered the art of performing for treats and loves to show off his skills. Playtime is his favorite, especially when it involves chasing squeaky toys. On walks, Ashton is a confident leader but never pulls on the leash, making him the perfect companion for strolls around the neighborhood. His adoption package includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and even a complimentary wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital.
